Having a sibling can mean both blessing and trouble. Brothers and sisters can be very annoying but you tolerate them simply because you love them to bits! They do things that make you want to hug them tight and minutes later, they do really irritating stuff that make you want to hit them.

For people who grew up as an only child, understanding what it really means to have someone you love and hate at the same time is impossible. Well, let me tell you something. This is absolutely true.

These are the 12 struggles of siblings that people grew up as the only child will never understand. You may not relate to this, but at least you know now!

1. Food hide-and-seek

Do you know what’s annoying? It’s when you really saved that popsicle for yourself and finding put that your brother or sister stealthily ate it before you! That’s absolutely irritating, not to mention heartbreaking.

2. Bathroom wars

2. Sharing the bathroom with your siblings is always a war. Whoever takes the “throne” first usually annoys the heck out of his siblings. And the rest of the family is always left to knock on the door every now and then because they are going to be late!

3. Who’s gonna ride shotgun?

Here’s another funny but really huge struggle when you are not an only child. There will always be a race on who gets to ride shotgun! If you’re too slow, don’t even dream of rising the seat next to the driver which is practically the best seat in the car!

4. That’s not me!

Incessant teasing between siblings can be very irritating. And when you are the youngest of the bunch, your older siblings will surely pick on you almost all the time.

5. Say what?

Parents with more than one child always get their kids’ names mixed up. Don’t blame them. It’s all part of the package and your parents are not getting any younger. They practically call everyone’s names when they actually want to call yours!

6. Got to go!

The worst situation? It’s when you did something you know you shouldn’t be doing and your siblings tell on you! Panic mode is on and like an ostrich running around the field, all you want is to just slip away before your parents catch up and lecture you for your bad behavior.

7. To share or not to share?

Sharing is always one of the hardest things that people with siblings need to learn. It is tough, but this part of having brothers or sisters will surely teach you a lot about being fair.

8. Race to shower

Morning showers are not just leisurely walks towards the bathroom. When you have siblings, this part of the day is always a race! If you are too slow, don’t expect to get the hot water running soon enough for you to make it to school on time.

9. Never ending fights

Fights and squabbles are never lost when you are living in a house with siblings. There will always be something to argue about, but the most beautiful thing about this is that there will always be reconciliation because you love your sibling and no amount of fights will ever break your incredible bond.

10. Admitting defeat

It’s difficult to accept the fact that you were mistaken, but when it’s your sibling you’re admitting defeat to, this stuff becomes even tougher. It’s just so hard to admit you’re wrong when you are in a fight with your sibling. The smug look on their face after you admit defeat is just so irritating.

11. Simply annoying

Older siblings always say how their younger siblings are so annoying. Well, that’s how siblings show their affection: by being really, really a pain in the butt.

And finally, who will ever forget about the legendary TV wars between siblings? Everyone always search for the evasive remote control. Nowadays, kids don’t just fight over the TV. They even wage war against each other for the Netflix access! Oh, how the times have changed, but the same rivalry remains.

Growing up with siblings is definitely not a walk in the park. There are a lot of things that you need to learn so everyone can live peacefully in the same house. But, despite all the struggles and hardships, there are amazing parts of having siblings that will always weigh more than the fights and wars.

The part where you get to have a best friend for life or a confidante that loves you dearly is an awesome perk that will always be a beautiful blessing that having siblings entail.

So, before you fight again with your brothers or sisters, give them a hug and remind each other how blessed you are for having each other in your lives.
