Picture Day is always a special day for every student and parent.
Those children old enough to care would love to look their best because this photo will be etched in the memories of your family and friends forever.
Imagine all those then-and-now photos shown during weddings, and I’m sure you found a couple or more class photos in the mix.
However, for the younger ones, the pressure of a good photo is on the mother.
Those who have toddlers in preschool or kindergarten know that they wish to have a decent photo during Picture Day.
And by ‘decent,’ we mean at least the kids would look presentable.
Nicole Bartlett wanted that for her three-year-old Alina.
She was excited for her little daughter and wanted her to look her best for her first picture day.
The best dress and shoes, well-brushed hair, and a headband – all set for a picture-perfect toddle on her Picture Day at school.
That’s what Nicole expected to see in the final snaps.
She explained the importance of the day to dear Alina and why she was dressed her best.
“It was her first picture day. I got her up a little early and explained to her it was a special day, you get a little bit of hairspray and hair gel,” Nicole told People. “I had really, really high hopes. I usually let her wear her hair up for school just to keep it out of her face and everything. But for picture day, I wanted it down.”
However, when the photos returned weeks later, she was surprised to see THIS.
This is Alina’s preschool photo.
She was still all smiles but look at what happened to her hair.
Nicole had no idea what had happened, and even the teachers wondered the same thing.
They could only assume that Alina was probably playing and running around so much for her hair to turn out all messy and BIG!
Nicole laughed at what she saw because it wasn’t what she expected.
Alina’s photoshoot schedule was at 9:30 AM.
She thought that after she dressed and had breakfast, her daughter would be off the bus and go straight to the photoshoot session.
Obviously, that’s not what happened, and her toddler still had a lot of time for play.
At first, she was upset about it and would’ve wanted retakes.
But reality hit her because she knew there wouldn’t be any.
All four photos of Alina looked the same.
Nicole was a bit heartbroken because she wanted to send her daughter’s pictures as Christmas gifts.
Still, her family told her the photo turned out better than she hoped because… hey, imagine showing that at Alina’s wedding someday!
Nicole’s friends also advised her to post it on social media.
While she was hesitant about it at first but later decided to post a before-and-after or expectation-vs-reality post.
It instantly went viral, and people loved how Alina still showed her beautiful smile despite her hair being a mess.
