Halloween is a fun time for both parents and their children.
And for the same reason… candy!
The kids get to trick-or-treat for candy and parents get to eat some of that candy in secret when their kids are asleep.
And kids get pretty attached to their candy.
I used to make a list and take inventory of mine so I could tell if my older cousins ransacked my stash.
When kids find out that some or all of their candy is gone… they can go a bit bananas.
That’s why Jimmy Kimmel decided it would be funny to torture children on an annual basis by having their parents tell them that they ate ALL of their candy so that the parents could film their reactions and send it into Kimmel’s show.
They do this to these poor kids every year for the last 8 years. Except for this year, Kimmel decided to nix the prank because of COVID.
“This year we decided not to do it because kids have suffered enough,” Kimmel said, according to People.
Some parents decided to go ahead with it anyway. However, kids don’t always react in the way we think they will.
Kids are unpredictable. They are becoming stronger, smarter, and more emotionally adept than previous generations.
Take this adorable 3-year-old’s reaction from 2019 for example. More than 5.6 million watched his sweet response to his mom’s attempt at a prank.
The video starts with his mom delivering the bad news.
“Know how I put you to bed last night?” mom said to her little blonde haired boy.
“Uh huh,” his tone serious and matching hers.
“Well, I got really hungry and I ate all of your candy,” she tells him.
He sticks his face out from his neck and looks to his side in disbelief. Then he just stares straight back at his mom.
“I’m sorry,” she tells him.
He’s not messing around and he’s about to call her bluff. So, he walks right up to her face.
“You’re just joking, you didn’t eat all my candy,” he says sweetly with a huge smiling face.
I mean, how could his mom possibly betray him like that?
“I did,” she tells him… alas.
The look on his face was priceless.
Her son’s face completely drops and the smile erased.
“I want some of them,” he says quietly and sadly.
“I know but I was really hungry and I dint have any other food I’m really sorry,” she explains.
He looks at her and then to the side again.
He’s not messing around. So, he walks over to the refrigerator and flings the door wide open, again calling her BS.
“Well you should of eat something from here,” he tells her.
But he’s not mad or trying to tell her off or make her feel bad.
He’s simply explaining it to her so she knows.
“I’m really sorry,” she tells him.
But apparently, there is no need for an apology.
“Mommy,” he says grabbing her face and looking her in the eye.
“I’m not mad at you, it’s OK,” the little boy tells his mom smiling.
