Kids are wonderful. There’s no doubt about that. They’re adorable, they’re innocent, and they just bring so much joy to people’s lives. But – let’s face it – they’re also little monsters, sometimes.
Every parent knows that raising a child is hard work. Like, really, really hard work. And here are 45 photos to prove it.
If you were ever on the fence about having a kid – you might want to scroll through these photos before you decide.
1. Just chillin’
This kid thought it would be hilarious to climb to the top of the super high shelving at Lowe’s to yell at his dad. This is why you can’t take your eyes off your child for two seconds. We assume he got down safely.
2. A new colorful laptop
Coloring is a great way for kids to show their creativity and learn about colors. Just make sure your laptop is far, far away while they’re doing it. The intentions were adorable, though, you have to admit.
3. Out of control paint party
Apparently, these two kids had a ‘paint party’ at their daycare and they came home looking like this. We’d say they went into full party mode, for sure. Good luck cleaning the bathtub.
4. Just a day in the life
Puke becomes a normal part of life when you become a parent. Ever since they’re babies, when they spit-up, kids still tend to get sick easily as they get older. This kid just happened to do it all over his mom’s head. Lovely.
5. Privacy? What’s that?
When you have children, forget about any form of privacy. Unless you’re going to invest in some serious locks on every door, expect to see little heads following you wherever you go. Even when you just need five minutes on the toilet.
6. Is this a dream?
This parent probably thought that they were dreaming when they saw their little boy walking into their bedroom with a pony. But, no. They were very much awake and the boy very much brought a live pony into their bedroom. We have so many questions.
7. Baby proofed office
We’re not really sure how well this baby-gated office will work because as all parents know, where there’s a will, there’s a way. But we really love the idea. It’s a way to keep an eye on your kid while working without having to worry about them pulling the keyboard off your desk while you’re working on something important.
8. Peek-a-boo
This terrifying photo isn’t something from a horror movie. It’s just a kid who decided to climb up his mom’s dress and do whatever this is. Why doesn’t mom have a glass of wine in her hands?
9. A camping getaway
When you go on a camping trip you expect to wake up to the sounds of nature, not to the sound of your daughter munching on Doritos wearing a purse, right? This sassy girl wasn’t exactly loving sleeping outside and showed it.
10. This is why we can’t have nice things
Moms should learn right away to hide and lock away all of their makeup and perfume. Especially the expensive ones. Otherwise, this disaster is most likely going to happen.
11. Why? Why? Why?
Kids are super curious and that’s what makes them so adorable. But sometimes, the curiosity can get a little out of hand. This parent counted how many times their child asked them ‘why?’. We think it’s a world record.
12. Stereotypes
You also need to be very careful about the stereotypes that kids get bombarded with. In this case, the little guy encouraged his mom to play “army guys” with him. He said she could be this guy, who is ‘vacuuming’ (according to him). Wow.
13. Cover your ears
Babies cry. A lot. And those wails are freaking loud. So, if you’re sensitive to loud noises…maybe a baby isn’t for you. This little one registered at 109.7 decibels.
14. Picky eaters
Once your child is old enough, you start giving them real food instead of milk or baby food. The reactions to some of the new food you’ll give them are going to be downright hilarious. Whatever this kid just ate…he wasn’t having it.
15. At least they’re eating fruit?
Of course you want your kids to eat healthy foods. But, come on. Now it’s time to teach them some eating etiquette. This just isn’t cool at all.
16. The dad’s a lawyer…
When dad’s a lawyer, you know how to set up contracts and use them to your advantage from an early age. This little kid is already setting up contracts with his parents so they can’t get mad at him.
17. Always the bad guy
Moms can do everything and they can fix everything. That’s why kids usually go to them crying. But in this case, the mom has to ruin her daughter’s skirt after she got it caught in a scooter. How do parents always end up as the bad guy?
18. Never alone
As we said before, when you have a toddler you’ll never be alone around the house. In this case, the couple had opted for this glass bathroom door because they thought it was trendy before they had a child! This is what they’re facing now.
19. Nailed it
This little guy just wanted to look like Darth Maul, so what better way to create the look than with permanent markers? Yikes! We have a feeling the kid looked like this for a while.
20. Just a casual Tuesday night
When you are a parent of three, you need to get used to at least two of them fighting all the time. In this case, the little sister wants nothing to do with her brothers’ madness.
21. Tantrums over nothing
Kids usually throw tantrums when they don’t get what they want or when they’re not allowed to do something they want to do. In this case, his parents didn’t let him lick the cart. Of course, he was very, very upset about that.
22. Always a mess
This little chef wanted to cook an egg in the microwave. Instead of waiting for mom to show him how to do it, he thought he’d try it on his own. We’d say it went well.
23. Hidden ‘treasures’
The parents of this little girl opened the heating vent in the floor and discovered this mound of treasure. Look at all the ‘new toys’ she has to play with! Just make sure to get off all the dust and lint first.
24. Chocolate disaster
Never, ever leave a child alone with a box of Nesquik cocoa mix. It’s almost a guarantee that your kid and your living room or kitchen will end up looking exactly like this. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
25. Board game, anyone?
As we’ve seen time and time again, kids are walking tornadoes. They are absolute professionals when it comes to making messes. These parents probably had a lot of fun piecing back all of these board games to the matching boxes.
26. Nothing is off-limits
Literally any and everything that can make a mess needs to be way out of reach and hidden from the eyesight of the kids in your household. Because they will want to ruin your day by making that mess. In this case, it was a tube of diaper cream.
27. Post-It note or slice of cheese?
This little girl apparently thought that this would be the perfect place to set her piece of cheese while she watches her cartoon. Makes for easy grabs when she wants a bite later. We applaud her creative thinking.
28. Sippy cup hazard
This toddler came running to his parents after he found a sippy cup that had been missing for three weeks. Judging by the way this dad is grabbing it, the milk inside has probably gone a bit sour. Notice how the toddler doesn’t seem to mind the rancid smell one bit.
29. Adventures with grocery shopping
Trying to go grocery shopping with a kid, let alone multiple kids, is an entire experience in itself. Take this mom, for example. We’re sure dragging a child through the aisles is just a normal occurrence for her.
30. Where do they all go?!
Can someone please explain where the solo socks go when they disappear from the wash? This parent has been left with so many socks that are missing their pair. How does this happen?!
31. No bubble
Kids have no bubble and no concept of personal space. A foot in the face? Oh, definitely. Expect to have your personal bubble very, very violated once you have a child.
32. Upset and confused
This little girl was throwing a fit when her parents didn’t let her buy the ‘apple juice’ that she wanted. Why? Because it was actually vegetable oil. The little girl wasn’t convinced and proceeded to throw a tantrum.
33. Banana core?
This kid apparently thought that a banana has a core? Or maybe they think it’s some sort of relative to corn? We’re not really sure, but it’s actually really cute.
34. This one hurts
This kid’s parents had been saving some money to buy some tickets to a football game. Well, that is until their son decided to put it all through the paper shredder. Maybe you can tape it back together?
35. Would you like some pancakes with your syrup?
Unless your kid has some serious self-control, you’ll want to be in charge of pouring the syrup on their pancakes. Otherwise, you’ll have something that looks a little more like pancake soup on the plate. With syrup as the broth.
36. Take Your Kid to Work Day
They thought it would be fun to have everyone bring their kids into work one day a year. We bet this parent wishes that day didn’t exist. Can we just skip it next year?
37. What kids see
Every parent can relate to this very true meme. Anytime a child enters a car, this is what they see when they get inside. It’s amazing where you can find trash and crumbs.
38. Locked out
This parent mistakenly left their phone within reach of their child. And now? They’re locked out of their phone because of failed password attempts. And it looks like they have to wait five days before they can try again.
39. Surprise delivery!
This little girl somehow managed to order $300 worth of toys without her parents knowing. They found out on the day the toys were delivered. LOCK YOUR COMPUTERS, PARENTS!
40. I’m full
This parent was probably thrilled when their kid asked for an apple as a snack. But, apparently, one bite was just too filling and they decided to call it quits. We’re sure mom or dad polished it off since that’s where most of their meals come from – half-eaten food from their kids.
41. Not getting in
Sometimes you need to take extreme measures in order to keep kids out. The kids in this household aren’t going to be able to open the shower door mid-shower thanks to this contraption. And notice how it’s way out of reach? Good to go, parents!
42. More feet in the face
See? Personal space is not a thing when you’re a parent. And feet in the face? Almost a daily occurrence.
43. Hide the diaper cream, people!
Kids seem to love rubbing diaper cream all over their faces. So, be sure to keep that very hidden away and out of reach. We can’t imagine this being an easy clean-up.
44. Thanks for helping?
This kid was told to load the dishwasher, and it looks like they actually listened. The bad news is…every single cup was the wrong-side up. And now they’re all filled with dirty dishwater. I guess it’s the thought that counts?
45. Washing machine or toilet?
This child was asked to help with the laundry and threw mom’s pants in the toilet? Oh yeah, classic parent story. You’ll want to get some child locks for the toilet too.
Children are a lot to handle, that’s for sure. But clearly, they have a great sense of humor and a wonderful sense of innocence. You just gotta love ’em!
