It’s never a dull day being a parent. Little kids are cute, crazy, and sometimes hilarious. One of the most special things about watching kids grow up is seeing them develop their own quirky personalities. You think you know your child really well, and then they do something completely unpredictable that cracks them up.
Of course, these moments call for a photo, and we’re sharing our favorite snaps of kids being hilariously unpredictable right here.
Turn your back on your kids and you don’t quite know what game they’re going to play when they know you’re not looking. This guy thought it was totally acceptable to pretend to be a cat. He’s even managed to climb half-inside a cat carrier.
You won’t find this kid copying the trends when he’s older. All his friends went for generic dress-up costumes, but he just wanted to be a traffic light. Embrace that originality, we say!
“Bring your son to work,” they said. “It’ll be fine,” they said. And here’s the reality: said son making faces through a glass window. Let’s just hope dad doesn’t have any important clients in today…
Let’s admit it: taking kids out to dinner is a waste of time. Not only do they turn their noses up at anything that isn’t chicken nuggets and chips, they also spend most of the time pulling tricks like this. She can stay with the babysitter next time.
You can buy kids fake vacuum cleaners and mini dusters for “cleaning”, but this person’s son genuinely loves to do proper cleaning. Hey, it’s a weird hobby, but never complain! Don’t suppose he’s up for adoption?
Ah, kids. They’re good as gold until it actually matters. Like during family photoshoots. This little girl photobombed another family photo in the cutest way possible! Wonder if they bought this one in the end?
Lucky this kid was sleeping when her older sister decided to spit sunflower seeds out the window… only to discover they hadn’t left the car. I mean really, who spits sunflower seeds out the window anyway? Talk about disgusting!
Most parents will have the issue of asking their kids to do something and getting no response whatsoever. This mom had another extreme – she asked her son to put on face lotion, and he went slightly overboard. Looks like he used half the bottle.
Most kids couldn’t care less about drawing on themselves because they know a quick bath will wash the pen off. What this little boy didn’t realize, however, was that permanent marker, as the name suggests, is permanent. Wonder how many washes it took to get that blue off?
It’s so easy to get a little kid excited. For this adorable boy, all it took was him placing carrots in various places around the kitchen to put a look of victory on his face. He’s winning right now!
You know those old people who say, “Ohh, what a lovely child?” whenever they pass a stroller? We think even they’d struggle to pay a compliment to this little girl. Just joking – though this clearly wasn’t her finest photo, as her older sister was quick to point out!
What do you do when the baby is getting on your nerves? Put him in a laundry hamper cage, of course! Kidding – don’t actually do that. This older sister looks like she’s nailed parenting, though.
13. Scared of the Easter bunny
Some kids love the Easter bunny, and then there are others who see him as something out of a nightmare. Like this little boy, who was clearly traumatized for life after the Easter bunny paid a visit to his preschool. We don’t blame him – whoever thought an adult dressed as a giant rabbit was normal?
This little boy’s mom got the shock of her life when she came into the living room to check up on him. He’d managed to get his bottom half inside the couch so only his top half was popping out. Kids are weird.
This is exactly what happens when you try and make a team out of toddlers. Let’s face it, there’s not going to be very much actual basketball playing going on amongst them, so why bother buying them a uniform and having them stand for a professional photo? Hilarious.
Kids have moments when they think they’ve been really clever, when they haven’t *quite* got it right. This little boy had one of these moments himself. We’d love to be a fly on the wall for his mom’s explanation.
This person tweeted that they wished they had someone who would stare at them like their little brother did at ketchup. Now that is a loving look – wonder which one he’s going to go for? Probably the biggest bottle in the shop.
Babysitting when you’re not used to kids is always interesting. But this person’s problems began when her kids were
asleep. Supposedly, her niece was asleep on her head. Something tells us she’s not quite as asleep as she’s trying to pretend.
When this mom asked her daughter to write an apology letter, this is what she got. Hmm – if there really is something to be sorry for, she’s in trouble here. But we do like her sass.
When you’re a kid, there’s nothing that seems worse than having to go to school. The weekends couldn’t come faster, and when school shut for summer, it was the best time of the year. This poor kid couldn’t his her distress when her mom told her she had nearly 2 decades of school left to go.
All kids get drilled into them the importance of not talking to strangers. But what if you were a kid and you found a talking vent? It’s not technically a human, after all – or at least not on the surface. When this person saw their daughter speaking to a vent, at first, they thought it was cute… until they became genuinely concerned that the vent was talking back.
I mean, this really is the thing of nightmares. Imagining opening up a drawer to discover… nothing but your child’s own pee. Look at his little face, though – you couldn’t help but hug him and tell him you forgive him – as long as he never does it again.
Kids love bubbles, so bubble baths are naturally a dream come true. What some kids don’t realize, however, is the chemistry behind the liquid that gives baths their bubbliness. Pour in the whole bottle and this happens. Never seen someone look this sad about it, though.
Let’s face it – there’s no better way to relax than to run a lovely hot bath. But there’s also no better way to relax than to have a solo munch on chicken wings. This person’s son did both, and we’re living for it.
Kids spend so much time playing pretend eat-up that it would (sort of) make sense if this child had put some plastic food toppings on his toast. But a shark and some Lego pieces? Not for us, thanks. No word on what’s going on with the tea, either.
Here’s another case of a child thinking they’ve worked out something clever when reality is very different. It’s probably best to let this little guy think he’s playing with fishing rods for now. Something to embarrass him with when he’s a teen, though.
Older brothers are hugely protective of their younger sisters. Older sisters, on the other hand, might be protective deep down, but on the surface, they’re plain annoying. When this older sister learned she’d be sharing a room with her younger sister at night, the evening turned into a “how much of the loaf can you balance on her face?” challenge.
Children have to learn an awful lot at an early age, and one of the most difficult things is learning how to go potty. This guy clearly thinks he’s got his potty training down to a T. To be fair to him, if it works, it works.
If you went round your rich mate’s house as a kid, it was pretty much guaranteed they’d have photos of them kissing dolphins in their living room. This kid looks like he doesn’t quite know what a “gentle kiss” is, as he was instructed to do. Makes for a funnier photo, though.
Kids don’t always go to sleep after lights out. This little boy totally thought he’d get away with watching cartoons at 3AM, but unfortunately, his mom rumbled him. Look at that junk food feast, too!
31. “She’s definitely mine”
Now, this is an image that’s familiar to the average adult. Wouldn’t have thought your kids would end up sprawled flat-out on the couch with a bag of Cheetos in their toddler years though, did you? Well, genetics don’t lie.
So many little girls dream of being princess, warriors, or, in this case, mermaids. If only her parents had known she’d love her mermaid tail so much that they needn’t have bothered with any other Christmas presents. She’s loving life!
Ask your kids to dress for an occasion –
any occasion – and they’ll overprepare. This kid was asked to put on a suitable outfit for yard work, and he chose this. Makes a lot of sense – everyone works in dinosaur costumes these days.
Who said pants were a necessity? No one likes the uncomfortable waistband when they’re trying to be cozy watching TV. What is
less relatable, though, is the need to wear thigh0high boots instead. Well, you do you, mate.
Now, this might just be a poorly timed photo, but it really does look like a genuine snap from the 1950s, when men behaved in a manner that we now consider sexist and women ended up pulling faces like this on the regular. Not sure any of these babies really know what’s going on, but it’s hilarious anyway.
This little girl just doesn’t know when she might want a savory snack. So she decided to store her Cheetos in a tiny purse. She’s got the right idea, here, and so has her mom – this’ll keep her good throughout their supermarket shop!
Having a crush as a very young child is a confusing time. All you know is that you really like the look of another kid and you want to marry them. In this kid’s case, he’s got a crush on a random girl in an educational book, and he has to kiss her every time he gets to her page.
Never underestimate a child’s ability to escape through the doggy door! Unless, of course, they’ve got a pillow that won’t fit through. Priorities, right? If you’re running away, a pillow is basically a must-have.
It’s every kids’ dream to have the window down a bit in the car wash, and this sneaky little girl wound hers down when her mum wasn’t looking. The result? She ended up covered in bubbles. And actually seemed rather surprised about the inevitable turn of events.
These kids all went to a “princess for a day” dance, and this little girl decided to go as a hot dog. Now that’s how you stand out from the crowd! Not all girls want to be beautiful princesses, you know.
41. Fun at the art gallery
When you think your kid might be capable of behaving acceptably and maturely, think again. Especially if you’re taking them to an art gallery. Here’s a 2-year-old little boy attempting to touch something he should probably leave well alone.
The start of this birthday card is so optimistic… and then it finishes with a lovely reminder that life ends. Just what you want to read on your birthday! We have to give it to this kid, he’s pretty philosophical for a youngster.
If you considered yourself to be a more creative child, you probably remember cutting your own hair in front of the mirror. You’d give it a quick snip – then realize you’d made a mess of it and just hope that nobody noticed. In this girl’s case, there was no way she could hide her self-cut bangs.
This person’s little sister was a little worried about getting too close with her deodorant application. Most of us don’t even know that you’re supposed to spray 15 cm away, but she followed this rule as precisely as she should. Wonder what her friends would think if she whipped out the ruler every time she wanted a quick spray?
There’s getting a bit of your chocolate pudding on your chin, and then there’s this girl. No words for how she managed to look like she’d gone for a face-first chocolate bath. And it looks like she’s trying to make a quick getaway from the scene.
Making instant noodles is something that even little kids can master… oops, spoke too soon. This shifty-looking dude appears to have burnt a hole right through his noodle pot. Well, he won’t make that mistake twice.
If you don’t wear lipstick, this picture won’t pain you as much as if you do. Three tubes of lipstick were completely used down to the bottom for this masterpiece. Bet it’s a nightmare to wash off, too.
When you catch kids doing something they shouldn’t, they usually always have an excuse. Most of the time it’s “the dog did it”. We wonder what explanation this flour-covered little guy is going to come up with?
Kids get up to all sorts of mayhem when they’re playing alone. This little boy decided to put the dog bowl in the oven without his mom knowing. When she came to turn it on later, this happened. New dog bowl

50. Learning life’s truths
What happens when your kid forms an obsession with Darth Vader before even watching the Star Wars movies? You have to break it to her in the kindest way possible – a bit like the whole “Santa isn’t real” thing. Looks like she didn’t take it too well.
Just when you think you’re winning at potty training, your kid has an accident in the most public place ever. To be fair to him, though he doesn’t seem very phased by his accident, he probably didn’t want his mom to snap a pic of the moment. People will share anything online these days.
This little girl isn’t interested in the soft, cuddly toys. She’s made friends with a plastic garden owl, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. They even share a bed together.
Kids have all sorts of weird requests for things that help them sleep, but this one has to take the cake. Socks on her hands? Why not normal baby mittens? This is clearly a weird toddler phase in full force.
Us parents are entitled to have a laugh at our kids’ expense sometimes – it’s written in the legal parenting contract somewhere. When this guy’s son asked for “cold hard cash” for his birthday, he appeased him – quite literally. Slice of dollar cake, anyone?
55. Playing with the stamps
It’s not really their fault, but little children don’t tend to understand the importance of certain valuable items around the home. Hence why adults tend to pack up their breakables before having kids. This little girl has gotten ahold of her dad’s vintage stamp collection… again.
56. Uncomfortable check listing
Kids have all sorts of strange hobbies, and most of the time, it’s best to just leave them be. But this little girl acting as the world’s youngest secret shopper, checklist and all, would be enough to make any store owner sweaty with anxiety. Wonder what she’s ticking off?
The paranoia sets in early for kids with siblings. Would his older bro have eaten his chips if he’d left them on their own? Most likely. So he took them with him to finish on the toilet. With the door open. Er…
Have you ever seen a better hiding place?! In all seriousness, this kid probably still has to learn that “hide and seek” doesn’t mean “if I can’t see them, they can’t see me”. He looks like a strange human turtle.
Bath salts look like a lot of fun to play with… until they start mushing up and essentially turn into a skin stain. Just kidding – that’s cake. But really, there isn’t much difference, appearance-wise!
And finally, when you live nowhere near the beach (or any body of water, for that matter), snorkeling in a water fountain is the next best thing. This guy was seen in the middle of a city center in full snorkeling gear. Wonder if he also snorkels in his bath?
