Have you ever seen something so shocking you almost questioned whether what you were seeing was actually real? Well, that’s what happened to one fellow delivery driver who thought he was about to have a day just like any other.
As an Amazon delivery driver, your day mostly looks like hitting your given routes, dropping off packages, and running from dogs (only sort of kidding). For one man, however, finding a baby on the side of the road was just a good day’s work.
Baby seat
The driver, Juan Carlos Flores, was driving down the road when he noticed a baby carrier on the side of the road.
“When I saw that baby, I wanted to cry,” said Flores.
Decided to check and make sure everything was ok, he realized what he just stumbled onto. A baby was inside the carrier and it was totally abandoned.
“How could someone have a heart to leave the child on the side of the road?” Flores said
Going to the neighbor’s house, he asked them if the child was theirs!
Incredibly, it wasn’t. This was done intentionally.
Calling backup
The homeowner whose door Flores knocked on came out did the only thing he knew to do. He went outside, took the seat inside, and called the police. With nothing else to do, Flores went on his way to finish dropping off the packages he still had to deliver.
Checking up
On his way back, he decided to stop by where the baby was found and see how things were going.
The police had arrived and were conducting a search of the entire area! Flores was then able to show the officers the house that took the baby in temporarily.

Incredibly, a nearby doorbell camera caught the dropoff on video!
Things aren’t as they seem
In the video, we can see a man pulling over, leaving the car for a second, and then dropping off the carriage on the side of the road. It initially looks really strange until you realize what had happened only a few minutes before this.
The man had stolen the car and didn’t realize a baby was in it!
A few minutes before, a woman had called 911 to say that her car had been stolen! In the call, this is what was recorded:
“Units in route to a robbery of the vehicle. On the call, she said the child was in the vehicle,” authorities said on police audio from Broadcastify.
The terrified mother had her car stolen while her baby was inside. When the man driving the car realized what had happened, he dumped the baby as soon as he could.
20 long minutes
The video then showed Flores finding the baby sitting there for about 20 minutes!
“It showed the baby getting dropped off, and the baby was there for about 20 minutes, and there were about six vehicles that drove by, and nobody saw,” Garcia said. “It was also trash day that day, so we wouldn’t have realized something was there on the corner.”
Flores didn’t know he was going the be the central hero of a rescue story that day! After the police put the pieces together, it was easy to connect the baby to the mother and reunite the two. The police weren’t able to find the vehicle yet, but for a mother, the vehicle is a totally secondary problem to the safety of her child.
