There might be instances wherein family members share the same birth month. There are only 12 months in a year, after all.
But for a grandmother, her daughter, and her daughter’s son to share the same birth month and date? That’s definitely rare!
It was February 6, Kyrsten Moreno’s own birthday. This day is also her mom’s birthday too. And on that same exact date, the mom-to-be felt that her son was also about to be born.
Before February 6 ended, Kyrsten gave birth to a lovely baby boy she named Aiden. This day was already special but it was made even more significant because now, members of their family from three generations are sharing the same date of birth – which is extremely rare.
When Diana Leonard, the Amita Health OB Director, heard of the incredible story unfolding in the delivery room, she simply could not believe it.
“I was like ‘Are you kidding me?’,” the amazed woman told CBS 2. “Then I start thinking, ‘Have I ever heard of this before? No.'”
The one-of-a-kind birth story caused quite a stir in the hospital.
There was no way the hospital staff would let the day pass without greeting the birthday celebrants properly. The odds of this happening is one in 48 million, after all!
“We need a cake. We need a cake because there’s three generations with the same birthday,” Diana said.
The staff bought a cake and went to the newborn’s room where both Kyrsten and her mom, Nadyne Hugmeyer, were staying. They sang a birthday song for the three celebrants and congratulated the family.
Kyrsten could not believe that she actually delivered Aiden on her birthday, but it happened!
“I’m like, there’s no way he’s going to be born on my birthday,” Kyrsten said.
Kyrsten also shares that having the same birthday as her mom practically led to her stealing Nadyne’s birthday thunder. And now that Aiden also has the same birthday as hers, it seems to be “payback” time.
While Kyrsten thinks that this was all a coincidence, her mom thinks differently.
“I don’t think it was a coincidence. I think it was meant to be,” the grandmother firmly said.
As it turned out, this is not the first time that this kind of thing happened in history. In fact, based on the Guinness World Records website, most generations that happen to share the same birthday are up to four generations. There are seven families who currently share this record.
Can you imagine having four generations in the family having the same day to celebrate being born on the same, exact date? That would surely be one incredible birthday party!
Not that Kyrsten’s family is trying to beat the record, but if they ever want to join the club, they would still need one more generation to be included. We guess we will just have to wait for little Aiden to have his own kid someday and see if they have the same birthday. But for now, the little boy would have to prepare to spend his birthday each year sharing the spotlight with his mom and grandma.
