Remember a few years back when dyeing your hair crazy colors was super trendy? Although it all started in the 1970s and it peaked during the punk movement, it became popular again about five years ago, when women- mostly- started getting mermaid or unicorn hair!
Today it is still common to see people with fantasy hair colors, but they don’t stand out anymore. But, back in 2014, whoever had bright pink hair still made an impression!
Like this mama in the video below, who had her hair dyed pink in 2014 and she went home to her toddler and filmed his reaction.
Kristan, mama of two boys, decided to make a change. She used to have “normal” hair, but then she decided to participate in a Pravana hair color contest.

So, she headed over to the cosmetologist and make-up artist Jacquelyn Marie Hastings, and she asked her to dye her hair pink. She probably had no idea how this would turn out, but she decided to go for it anyway.
Once she had made the change, it was time to return home. She didn’t know who would be more surprised by the pink hair- her husband or her son?
As it turned out, her husband kind of liked the new hairstyle, although he was not quite sure about it. But she also needed to know what her son thought of it.
It was time to surprise little Auguste, so Kristan and her husband thought it would be fun to capture on camera the toddler’s reaction to his mom’s new hair! And so they did.
In the video below, you can see Auguste casually sitting on the porch of their house when his mom arrives home.
Kristan then appears in her new pink hair and all Auguste can do is smile at her. He looks a little bit puzzled but he’s not shocked as one might have expected. In fact, he seems to like the new version of mommy.
His mom and dad ask him if he likes it, but he just keeps smiling all the time, his facial expression showing that he probably does!
The little guy walks towards his mom, pointing at her, and she takes him in her arms. He stares at his mom’s hair and then he smiles again. His mom then concludes that he does like her new hair color, while she admits that she thought she would cry.
Then in the next scene, mom and son are inside the house, while she’s still holding him in her arms. Auguste obviously hasn’t stopped smiling. When Kristan plays with her hair, the toddler turns his head smiling!
The YouTube community went crazy over the cute toddler and how he reacted to his mom’s new hair, so it has since gone viral with more than 2 million views and at least 35k upvotes.
Users have also gotten creative in the comments, with one, in particular, stating the funny truth:
