Dog And Toddler Team Up For Fridge Heist
That’s what I call teamwork. ;)

Shaggy and Scooby, Jake the dog and Finn the human, Snoopy and Charlie Brown, the list goes on of boy/dog duos that just get up to no good when left to their own devices. It seems like in the arithmetic of life, this can often be an equation that ends with mischief. And anyone who’s ever had a dog and a young child at the same time, knows this doesn’t only come on later on in life, their bond can grow from very early on.

“Canines are smitten with babies and can form strong connections because of the amount of time spent together. Both a baby and a dog, especially a young pup, have a common desire for a playmate and someone who will give them attention.”- American Kennel Club

This is definitely the case for this particular toddler and his partner in crime!

This toddler is on a mission, and who’s help will he employ but that of his trusty droopy-faced steed Leroy? Leroy is a Basset Hound, which means that he’s the perfectly loyal breed to join an enthusiastic toddler on any adventure. As Dogtime.com described the breed:

“Around the house, Basset Hounds are calm and rather lazy. They are loyal to their people and have a pleasant, friendly disposition. Because they originally were bred as pack dogs, they love to be with their families and also do well with other pets.”

In this case, for Leroy this means being a reliable companion on mischievous adventures. Their chosen adventure:

The Great Fridge Heist

After the toddler gets his steed in place, he proceeds to attempt to use him as a step to reach the fridge doors.

Now, if I were a parent, would I stand there and film my kid while he perilously climbs on top of my dog? No, I would probably intervene, but the mom filming this seems to know something that we don’t. Either that or she has a LOT of faith in her kid’s ability to climb!

Our toddler friend realises that in order to succeed, he’s going to have to get those doors open first.

And when they are, like a robber scoping out his next hit, he sizes up the task.

…Then the heist is on!

After haphazardly crawling onto Leroy’s back, (not very gracefully, and certainly testing Leroy’s commitment to his friend), the toddler reaches the fridge. I’m not sure what he’s even planning on stealing, but by the looks of it, he may just make off with a half-empty jar of mayonnaise.

While Leroy does end up being a living ladder in this adventure, he doesn’t seem to mind.

It’s clear that this dog had no problem lending his back to this misadventure, as when he wants to leave, he simply does. After showing intrigue in whatever it is his little friend was trying to do, he leaves out of boredom.

Which of course leaves the toddler stranded!

Well, maybe they do make loyal family pets, but when the job was done, and boredom set in, he decided it was time to make his getaway. Even if that meant that his toddler pal was left hanging…literally.
