There are lots of things that would be amazing to come home to every day. A delicious meal, a hot bath, or some peace and quiet all sound like they’d really hit the spot after a long day of work. But for many people, walking through the door and having kids or pets excited to see you would be the most heartwarming gift!
One mom shared a video clip online of her baby daughter’s reaction after she realizes Daddy’s home. Just fair warning that it’s so sweet you might not be able to resist saying, “Awww…”
The baby has no clue that he’s even there.
Harper is the name of the munchkin in the video and she’s playing in the living room. Little does she know her day was about to get even better – because Daddy was finally home from work!
Mom starts filming from the kitchen so she can capture Harper’s reaction to the great news. She asks her baby, “Harper, who’s here?” Right away the girl stops what she’s doing and looks up, seeming intrigued. Hmmm… Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Susie…who could it be?
After the baby stands up to find out who’s there, she hears his voice.
Dad calls from the other room, “Your Papa’s here!” That’s all it takes for the girl’s face to light up like a strand of Christmas lights, and she goes heading for the kitchen. YAYYY!
She doesn’t go running straight for her dad at first.
Harper seems overly happy to hear who’s there – but instead of toddling towards Daddy, she makes a pit stop to give Mom’s legs a hug.
This girl can’t contain her excitement.
From the other side of the kitchen, the man says in a fun voice, “But your Papa’s really here!” It gets the baby so ecstatic that she starts doing some floor spins and moving her legs wildly. There’s no denying that Harper really loves her daddy!
One viewer pointed out the perfect song lyrics to go along with her reaction. They wrote:
“‘I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it.’ Absolutely adorable.”
The cuteness isn’t over yet.
Harper goes crawling over to her dad who’s dressed in medical scrubs. Something tells me this is his favorite part of the day…
When she gets over to him they embrace and share a big, long hug. Seriously, is this one lucky guy or what?
It’s easy to see that Harper and her dad have a strong and special connection.
According to the Lamaze website, creating a “returning home ritual” is one way that a father can bond with his baby. On their list of bonding ideas for dads, they also suggest wearing a baby in a carrier, reading or singing to them, or including them in exercise (like going for a walk).
The video is melting YouTube viewers’ hearts into puddles.
Tons of positive comments have been left in response to the clip. Someone wrote:

One man shared how he could relate, writing:
“I used to think stuff like this was overrated. And then my wife gave birth to our first child,, and now all I can think of at work is “how much time till I can go home and hug my baby?”
