There’s no greater joy than the arrival of a new baby! And new parents are always eager to show off their little bundles of joy with their loved ones. But in such a big country, and with lots of big dreams to chase, it’s becoming more common for friends and families to live further away from each other.
For little baby Claire, it would take an entire cross-country road trip with her mom before finally meeting her grandfather.
Her mother, Katherine Ann is an army wife whose husband is currently deployed overseas. She has been documenting Claire’s journey since before she was even born! Sharing videos of her pregnancy and mommy tips she’s learned as a mother.
Katherine’s videos started as a way to keep her husband up to date from overseas, but she’s drawn thousands of subscribers and millions of viewers to her channel along the way.
“I make these videos primarily for my husband, who is deployed, so he can see our daughter grow.”
But of course, the rest of Katherine’s family has been watching too!
And they’re more eager than ever to meet their adorable new family member. So at only a few weeks old (or maybe months, I’m not good at judging a baby’s age but it looks pretty fresh to me), Katherine drove her newborn daughter across the country to meet her family.
As soon as they walk in, little baby Claire and her proud mama are greeted by a full household.
One of Claire’s teenage aunts is first up to say hello, and you can tell by the look on her face how delighted she is!
“Mom, she’s so tiny!”
The boys in the house seem a little more withdrawn. They’re in their early teens so coping with the excitement of a new baby girl is going to be new territory and different for everyone.
One of the boys is so excited that he just hops on the piano. His older sister can’t believe what she’s hearing and calls him out. If you’re not already beaming about the small child, this will definitely make you crack up.
“John, why are you playing piano when there’s a baby?”
But then grandpa comes out of another room and has never been more excited!
His eyes totally light up and he can’t wait to hold her.
The little girl can’t even hold her own head up yet, but is so comfortable in grandpa’s arms that she cracks a little smile.
Watching babies interact with other facial expressions is one of the cutest parts of their development, and little Claire is loving it.
The two look so happy together! She can’t take her eyes off him.
Grandpa is just beaming with joy, finally having his granddaughter home. And it’s probably been some time since he’s last seen his daughter, too!
Another innocent and heartwarming moment happens when Claire’s teenage aunt gets to hold her for the first time.
I think this is the face we all made the first time we held a tiny baby!
After a long drive, and busy visit meeting so many new faces, Claire starts getting a little fussy so it’s time for bed.
She takes a bath and changes into some adorable jammies before signing off with mom.
The comment section of YouTube blew up with adoring viewers loving the instant bond between Claire and her granddad.
And acknowledging what a gift these little cuties are to the world.
“Firsts” and moments like these are so important.
What an amazing way for Katherine to share her daughter’s early days with her husband overseas. Watch the video below for the full interaction!
