Hearing your baby call you “mama” or “dada” for the first time ever is one of the most precious experiences a parent can have. Parents will sometimes have a competition amongst them over whether or not their baby will say “mama” or “dada” first.

Unfortunately, baby Nowah’s dad did not win that bet.

But he wasn’t about to take it lying down. He was determined to have his baby girl say “Papa,” which is “daddy” in Dutch. The problem was that she couldn’t quite get her P’s right. That’s when hilarity ensued. And all that hilarious was captured on video which was posted on YouTube.

“Our baby daughter laughing and having fun while her dad tries her to pronounce ‘daddy’ in Dutch (papa). ‘Mama’ was no problem for her anymore, ‘papa’ proved to be a bit more difficult,” her mother explained in the YouTube video’s caption. “She was pronouncing it more like ‘baba’, so her dad started to emphasize the letter ‘p’. From that moment on, baby Nowah doubled up with laughter.”

The video starts out with dad saying “mama.” The only response he gets from his daughter is a little hiccup.

But then he says “Papa” and really pops his “P” which Nowah thinks is the funniest thing ever. From there it turns into a full out laugh fest. He starts laughing because she is laughing and they both start giggling really hard.

She teases him back by saying “mama, mama” knowing that he’ll soon respond with some silly popping P’s. The two walk past a horse which Nowah really seems to enjoy, but then they get back to their silly game.

The two of them exchange a few mamas and papas back and forth and it’s absolutely adorable.

They are both hysterical laughing and its the funniest thing to watch. Many researchers have come up various theories about why babies laugh, apparently, it shows that they are social.

“Importantly, from the very first chuckle, the survey responses show that babies are laughing with other people, and at what they do. The mere physical sensation of something being ticklish isn’t enough. Nor is it enough to see something disappear or appear suddenly,” Tom Stafford wrote in an article for the BBC. “It’s only funny when an adult makes these things happen for the baby. This shows that way before babies walk, or talk, they – and their laughter – are social. If you tickle a baby they apparently laugh because you are tickling them, not just because they are being tickled.

Whatever the reason is, these two are absolutely adorable. Watch for yourself in the video below.
