Most of the time, being a parent isn’t easy.
Not only are you caring for someone who is completely dependent on you, but you also have to do some things that may not make your kid that happy but helps them in the long run. When kids get older, this involves things like putting them in time out, grounding them, or pushing them to participate in activities that they may not be entirely comfortable with yet. But when they are babies, one of the hardest things for parents to watch their kids go through is their vaccinations.
While in recent years, some parents have been choosing not to vaccinate their children, all reliable human health organizations point to the importance of vaccines.
They can prevent your child from getting sick as they start to find themselves in more social situations. Not only that, but they also prevent the spread of several deadly diseases that used to be a lot more common.
Therefore, Antwon Lee knew he had to take his little guy, Debias, to the doctor for vaccinations. He wanted to make sure that the little boy was okay when the doctor vaccinated him, and the way he did so was hilarious. Luckily, the whole ordeal was caught on camera.

A nurse starts to take Debias’ temperature, and you can see that he starts to get uncomfortable. But Antwon is determined to make sure that his little boy is OK. He’s giving him a pep talk, telling him to stay strong and that he can look at his daddy. While the little boy still squirms around, he seems like he is very comforted by his dad’s voice.
Then, it’s time for the baby to get his vaccinations.
His dad starts explaining to him what’s going to happen. He then says:
“I know you’re gonna cry. But it’s okay to cry. It’ll be okay.”
Debias smiles up at him, clearly as amused by his father’s antics as the nurses in the room are.
When Debias gets his shots, he is clearly not happy.
He starts to cry out loudly, and his dad shows him all the sympathy and emotional support the little guy needs. He keeps saying, “Man, I know, man,” showing his son that he understands his pain. Even though the little boy needs to get his shots, having his dad support him along the way probably makes the process a lot more endurable.
After he’s done getting his vaccinations, his dad picks him up and holds him close, commiserating with Debias the whole time.
It truly is a heartwarming moment, and other people in the room verbally express how glad they are that the whole thing is being recorded.
At first, Antwon just posted the video to his personal Facebook page to share the moment with his friends and family. But a close friend told him that he should make the video public so that others could see it, as well. After all, it was such a heartwarming moment.
Once Antwon made the post public, it went viral right away.
People were touched by how this father showed his son that emotional vulnerability is OK and supported him the whole time. Other dads have even written to Antwon to tell him how inspiring he is as a father.
It’s clear that Debias is a very lucky little boy for having a father that is so kind and supportive. Hopefully, others will take his cue and let their sons know that sometimes, it is OK to cry.
