When siblings are little their relationships can go from love to annoyance in seconds. Parents never know what their days are going to be like, will their children be getting along, or will they be fighting all day. The days filled with fighting make all parents more appreciative of the moments their children are loving to each other.
When the Bledsoe family brought their older daughter, Bella, to meet her new younger brother, Quinn, they had no idea how their relationship would start. Jealousy or Love?
The Bledsoe family had their three-year-old daughter, Bella, come to the hospital with her father to meet her newborn baby brother, Quinn. She knows she is about to meet her baby brother but at the age of three does not really understand how. She walks into the hospital room very timidly and goes straight to her mother.
Mothers are always the safest place in the room for a child in an unknown situation, Bella feels no different.
The first words that Bella says are, “Look, it is Quinn,” as she points towards the bed.
Bella’s mother, Jessica, asks if Bella wants to see him but she becomes even more timid. She is unsure about this new brother in her life, but with some more guidance from her mother she gets closer to her baby brother. When her mother asks if she wants to get on the bed to get even closer, Bella gives the okay with a bit more excitement now.
Bella tries to get onto the bed with baby Quinn but her little body cannot get up without the help of dad.
Once Bella is on the bed with Quinn, it is time for all the statements and questions from the mind of a three-year-old.
Bella is shocked that he is so tiny, so her mom reminds her that he came out of her tummy. Once that is answered, Bella wants to know why he is not crying. It is a solid question for a three-year-old because all babies are usually crying to them! Her mother lets her know that he is just sleeping.
Bella will soon find out that babies sleep even more than they cry.
When Bella’s mother asks her if she wants to kiss him, Bella becomes excited for the opportunity.
Bella tries to lean in to kiss Quinn but backs off before getting too close. This sweet older sister is already worrying about hurting her brother. He is so tiny that she does not want to lean over his little body. Bella is already a great protector of her little brother.
Bella tells her mom, “Um, I don’t think I can kiss him, but I can…okay mommy.”
Bella is torn between wanting to kiss her brother and not hurt him, she is the cutest.
She leans over to give him a kiss but is once again too scared she might hurt him.
Bella looks to her father with nervousness in her eyes. So, Bella’s father shows her how to kiss her baby brother while being safe. He gives just a quick kiss on the forehead to Quinn. This is a big help to Bella, who now realizes she can kiss Quinn the same way and it will not hurt him or even wake him up!
Bella leans in and gives her new brother a kiss on the forehead.
She leans back and is excited that she was able to do it. I have a feeling that Bella and Quinn are going to be great siblings as they grow. Bella has the sweetest heart and already wants her brother to stay safe but loved as well.
