Thanks to new technology, homeowners can now monitor their homes in real-time with inventions like doorbell cams.
Most people use these convenient devices to catch pesky porch thieves or to see if it’s really the pizza delivery person at the door. However, a resourceful boy from Haslett, Michigan had something else in mind. He found an unexpected purpose for his house’s doorbell camera.
Getting in contact with dad
Now, kids being creative is not at all that surprising, especially when they’re trying to get something they want. But this little boy took things to a whole new level to reach his goal.
Wanting to get a hold of his dad who wasn’t home, he decided to reach him at work by ‘video calling’ him from the front door using their family’s home security system.
Why would a kid go to such great lengths just to talk to his dad, you ask?
Well, as it turns out, he had a very important question that needed an immediate answer. But before he got to his request, the boy spent some time greeting his dad through the lens of the doorbell’s camera.
He can even be seen sending a virtual kiss in the recording that has since gone viral.
After that, though, he immediately got down to business. He asked his dad how to turn on the Kids’ Channel on the television. While the dad was amused by his son’s antics, he was still a bit concerned when he learned that the boy was home alone.
Figuring things out
The boy immediately explained that his mom was just over at the neighbor’s house. He had actually allowed him to go back home to watch some TV.
With things finally clarified, the dad then instructed the excited kid to turn on the TV and just switch it to channel 25. There was a problem, though.
His son didn’t know what the number 25 looked like.
At that point, the dad and his co-workers, who were listening in the background, couldn’t hide their laughter anymore. The situation was certainly made even funnier when the son started growing impatient and began making funny faces in front of the doorbell cam.
The dad eventually explained that all the boy needed to do was press the numbers two and five to get to his channel. Satisfied with the response, the son was ready to go watch some television. They said their goodbyes and I-love-yous before he disappeared inside to watch his chosen channel.
Going viral with the doorbell cam video
Not surprisingly, a lot of people also found the video absolutely hilarious. It now reportedly has over 211,000 likes and has been shared almost a quarter million times on Facebook. The video was posted there by Ring, the company that made the doorbell cam that had made the interaction possible.
Other people who own a similar setup have also shared their own funny experiences using the device.
In the comments, they shared experiences that included cats that had learned how to get attention to get inside by activating the camera and doorbell sensor. they also laughed about neighborhood birds that just seemed to be having fun with the new toy.
