When many people think of their parents, the dad is often the one that comes to mind as the “adventurous” one.

Many dads eagerly take their kids on hikes, invite them to play games, and basically just ooze fun in general when the atmosphere allows.

Boys love the fun that dads provide.

We can’t deny that one of the best feelings when you are a kid, is when you get to bond with your father.

Brian Kelly misses this bond.

He used to spend quality time with his dad whenever they would do some yard work and he definitely enjoyed those moments.

Unfortunately, this kid had to go through tough times while his dad was away.

His father had been deployed.

Brian’s dad is in the Air Force and he was deployed abroad – in Syria to be exact.

Brian was longing for his dad and had to cope with it at a young age.

We all know that it’s not easy to be away from our loved ones, so it’s unthinkable how hard it is for a kid like him.

Although his mom was there by his side during that time, it was inevitable he would miss his dad.

โ€œWhen Dan [Brianโ€™s dad] gets back, Brianโ€™s going to cry and run to him with open arms,โ€ Brian’s mom told Happiest.

Brian was doing his best.

He tried to gather the strength to surmount his situation with the guidance of his mom and, surprisingly, his neighbors too.

He and his family were blessed with kind neighbors.

Meet the Cravens.

When Brian saw the family doing some work in the yard, he immediately went to them and asked them if he could join.

He wanted to do the activity that he and his dad used to do. Without hesitation, the head of the Cravens family, Dean, said yes.

And that was the start of their adorable friendship.

Brian would regularly come over to Dean’s house so they could bond and do some “dad stuff”.

He and his family welcomed the little kid into their house wholeheartedly. In fact, one of Dean’s daughters, Molly shared some of their photos on Twitter.

“This is our little neighbor. His dad is deployed in Syria and every day he comes to the door asking to work with our dad. Appreciate today,” she wrote

Aside from working in the yard, they would also play basketball and golf.

They became really close.

Dean has three daughters of his own and he genuinely enjoys it when Brian keeps him company.

So many people were touched by Dean for taking the time to play and bond with Brian.

“Bless y’all for being so kind while his Daddy is serving our country. This made me tear up,” one commenter said.

Some commenters also wished that Brian would see his dad again.

Seeing how receptive Dean was of Brian and how willing he was to “stand in the gap,” so to speak, while his father serves the country is one of the most heartwarming gestures.

While Brian will continue to miss his dad as long as he isn’t home, having the friendship and guidance of a neighbor like Dean is like a balm to the soul.
