Katie Musser and her husband’s ex, Casey Bender, haven’t always gotten along.

But now they are incredible friends.

So much so that Musser even made it a point to shout Bender out during her wedding vows where she promised to be a good co-parent to their unified family.

They weren’t your typical wedding vows, but they were the kind of vows that had all the guests in tears.

When Musser started her speech she asked Bender, the groom’s ex-girlfriend, to stand up along with her husband Tyler.

Bender is the mother to Musser’s 4-year-old stepson, Landon

“First I want to thank you for accepting me as your friend and allowing me to be a part of Landon’s life. I will love you guys no matter what comes our way. We are one family, always,” Musser began.

Then she got down on her knee and motioned for Landon to come a little closer.

“Landon, I will love you more than you will ever know. I’ve had the privilege of knowing you since the beginning. I love watching you grow. And I will for the rest of my life. I’m so happy that I get to now, officially be your bonus mommy,” Musser told her step-son.

Musser also promised to take over mommy duties when his mom isn’t around.

Such as protecting him, holding him, and cleaning the “boo-boos” when he gets them.

“I promise to stand by you, listen to you, and love you every day. I promise to love daddy with all my heart and be a best friend to mommy and your daddy, Tyler. We will be one big family that I promise you will have for the rest of your life. I love you so much,” Musser said.

Musser and her stepson embraced in a big hug as you can hear the person who was filming the video snuffling excessively.

Bender said she had no idea that Musser was going to make that speech.

“Just being invited to the wedding was enough for me, but for her to take even three minutes out of her once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the one day where it’s all about her and her groom, was such an amazing, selfless thing,” she said. “I was just floored. She did not have to do it.”

Musser met her now-husband Jeremy right before he had Landon and was broken up with Bender.

When Musser and Bender first met, they did not get along at all.

“I was very upset and very hurt at the time,” Bender said.

Eventually, Musser reached out to Bender to make amends for the sake of Landon and having a peaceful family.

But they eventually became close friends.

Musser even gave Bender the same bracelet that she gifted to all of her bridesmaids.

“We bonded on so many more levels than just Landon. And we realized we had more in common than we didn’t,” Bender said. “At the time, I thought we would be able to be cordial and co-parent. Never in a million years did I think she and I would be the very best of friends.”

Musser says she hopes her wedding vows going viral will encourage others to co-parent.

“This can happen. We want people to see that the kid is what matters, his feelings and the love he gets,” she said. “Obviously, we got a good friendship out of it, but in the end, we really wanted what’s best for him.”
