Being healthy and staying shape is a difficult task no matter how old you are.
Let’s face it: most aspects of modern, Western life are not exactly the healthiest. Most of us probably work sitting down at desks throughout the day, eat out more often than we should, drink too much caffeine and somehow also find excuses not to work out. Sound familiar? For many of us, this story is all too relatable.
All of this was the case for one California mom who had had enough.
Brittany Williams was a normal mom with three kids who noticed that daily life was harder than it should be.
Motherhood had kept her very busy until one day she discovered that getting down on the floor to play with her kids was much more difficult than it was supposed to be. As a result of bad habits, Williams’ weight had become a serious problem. Although she was on the verge of going through with weight loss surgery, she decided to try losing the weight on her own first.
As it turns out, Williams had jaw-dropping success.
As a New Year’s Resolution, Williams decided to lose weight by following a simple and self-designed diet plan.
It all started when Williams decided she was going to make good use of a combination pressure cooker and slow cooker she had in her kitchen. The diet itself was simple and flexible:
“We cleansed our house of processed food, stopped eating out and stopped eating (most) grain, sugar and dairy.”
Williams posted her journey on Instagram—and her results speak for themselves.
The changes she made to her diet gave Williams incredible results. She started at 260 pounds and lost 41 pounds in the first three months. Further down the timeline (about eight months in), she had dropped to 139 pounds—an incredible 121 pound loss! Her story has served as an inspiration for others looking to lose weight cheaply and simply.
Her results even got her family covered by ABC News.
In all, Williams journey shows how much can be accomplished by making simple lifestyle changes.
Ultimately, Williams’ weight loss was motivated by a desire to be more active with her children and to be a better mother. Following a simple plan, she was able to achieve that end and improve her physical health dramatically. Although Williams encourages anyone to try making changes to their diet if they so desire, she also says to be gentle about it:
“Go at your own pace. If it’s totally overwhelming for you to think about cleaning out your pantry, just go one meal at a time.”
Congratulations to Brittany and the entire Williams family!
