Heroes don’t always wear capes or any fancy costumes. They could just be a random person or someone you haven’t met yet.
But for this woman, she accidentally met her superhero at a convenience store.
Being the right person, at the right moment, and at the right time.
An Arvada, Colorado resident, Rebecca Montano, was just doing her usual job at the counter when her day suddenly made an unexpected turn.
She had a customer, a mother holding her baby. There was nothing unusual at first. Rebecca, being a mom and a grandmother herself, tried to make the baby smile.
Let’s admit it, we all did the same, trying to make goofy faces to make a baby smile or laugh, haven’t we?
However, what happened next was something she didn’t expect.
While looking at the baby’s mother, she noticed something off.
The woman stopped responding to her and froze for a short while. Rebecca tried asking if she was alright or if she needed anything, however, the lady was in total silence.
“I was talking to the baby and she — the girl — had a glazed look on her face. I wasn’t sure, I felt uneasy about it. I was asking her, ‘is everything OK,’ I grabbed the baby’s arm and she started to sway, she wouldn’t answer me. She was just lost in space, so I thought I better take the baby, something doesn’t feel right,” Rebecca told 9 News.
The quick-thinking store attendant then grabbed the baby’s left hand while waiting for the mom to respond. Following her ‘mother instincts’, she then took the baby away from the mom’s arms. Soon after, the woman leaned on the counter and fell straight to the ground.
It then became clear to her that the baby’s mother was having a seizure attack.
Luckily, there was another customer that day. Rebecca immediately jumped into action and did the necessary to help the poor woman.
“And then right there she started to fall and I wasn’t sure still exactly what was going on, so I yelled at [a nearby] customer that was in the store [for help]. She fell, I came back, grabbed the phone called 911,” she said.
According to the alert store attendant, the woman was having a really bad seizure. Instead of just holding the baby, she decided to attend to the woman while waiting for rescue to arrive.
Having seizures inside the convenience store was actually a blessing in disguise.
Just imagine the amount of danger if the woman had seizures somewhere else, like on the road while driving or somewhere without other people to help her?
The mother also confessed to Rebecca that she was having episodes of seizures all her life. She came back to the store and thanked Rebecca not only for being there for her but more importantly for saving her baby from possible danger.
Mothers are really amazing!
To call them amazing is actually an understatement. When the actual footage was uploaded, it quickly went viral with tens of millions of views online.
Actually, one of the people who commented on the video knows Rebecca and who she truly is.
“That’s my old manager, Rebecca. She’s extremely genuine and cares inside and outside. So glad to see this video pop up on my feed again ❤️🥰”
While this one believed that the mother of the baby was doing her job as a mother even under a seizure attack.
“The fact that she fell after the baby fully was out of her grip makes me think she was putting up a fight to keep her baby from not falling”
We couldn’t agree more, both Rebecca and the mother of the child are amazing in more ways than one. This amazing story truly proves that not all heroes wear capes and they don’t always go by a superhero name, they are often called “mothers”.
