One of the best things about coming home for the holidays is being reunited with your family and friends. Each year college students leave their dorms and flock back to their hometowns for the holidays.

While parents are happy to see that their children are safe and under their roofs again, it does take some getting used to.

The holiday homecoming, however, can be quite the pain in the ass for some parents as Dan Howard will tell you. He created a hilariously sarcastic video on what it really means to have your college kid home for holidays.

“Yeah, its five days, in my daughter came home from college I’m really excited to see her,” he begins the video. “Day 1 was great. It was a work night and her plane was delayed and got in about 1 in the morning. And then she had the heaviest piece of luggage I’ve ever felt in my life. It must of been like 150 lbs but one of the wheels was broken so I had to carry it across the airport and parking garage.”

The visit was off to rough start, but maybe Day 2 will be filled with warm and fuzzy feelings?

“It’s the Christmas season and we love to have her, it’s really great to have her home from college. Day 2 was interesting she had friends over late night and about 2 in the morning they decided to bake cookies and cupcakes and everything else,” Dan explains. “And it was so cute listening to their voices, I probably slept an hour. They left everything out. The next morning I woke up and everything was left out. Even the milk and it was sour. Those rascals! But such nice kids great having them home.”

Let’s just say days two through five weren’t much better and were filled with even louder late nights and messes to clean up.

“She has piles of clothes all over her room so we don’t even go to the gym anymore all we do is jump over the piles and pretend they are hurdles,” Dan explained. “Very good for the quads!”

Apparently, there were many parents who could relate.

This is hilarious and so true at the same time,” said one commenter on Facebook. “Mine hasn’t come home yet but I’m anticipating some similar things happening. Especially the luggage not making it upstairs for days. Nothing like home for the holidays. Stay strong dad!!”
