He figured she'd be an easy target, but he couldn't have been more wrong.

Some of the most unsuspecting people can have the biggest fights in them. 12-year-old Nyletta proved that when she was braver than most kids her age.

Nyletta Lincoln, a 12-year-old girl, made the news when she fought off a home intruder while her parents were gone.

This took place in Woodland, California.

This part of the state is relatively quiet.

Not exactly the kind of place where you’d be afraid to leave your kids home alone.

But there’s a first time for everything, and trouble did come to the quiet little town in Woodland soon enough.

More than a few reports of prowling had already gone around in the area.

Though the Lincolns didn’t expect the suspect to choose their house.

Between a grown man and a lone 12-year-old, the odds don’t seem that great.

But Nyletta had a bit of a fire in her that day.

She was home alone when the knock on the door happened.

It was a hostile, loud sort of knocking – definitely not her dad.

Nyletta had earphones on when the knocking overpowered the sound of the music.

She now knew that someone was trying to break into the house.

Many things could have been going through her head, but Nyletta’s instincts overpowered her fear.

Instead of hiding or screaming, Nyletta decided she’d arm herself.

The 12-year-old grabbed her baseball bat, ready to swing it at whoever was on the other side of the door.

She went to the living room, where she could look through a window. The lock on the door was busted, and the man was getting closer to being able to break in.

Now impatient, the man yelled out, “Let me in!”

She replied, “No!” and promptly kicked the door with enough force to hit his face.

“I was really scared but I just knew he couldn’t come into the house and I knew just to protect my own house.”

Her dad is both proud of her and glad that she’s okay.

He joked that his absence was because he was at Big Five Sporting Goods to buy her a throwing axe.

After what we’ve seen, Nyletta would be unstoppable with a throwing axe.

No one would dare break into their homes anymore if she had one.

The police were called and handled the situation.

Officers were already on the move before Nyletta encountered the man since they’d been notified of the suspect 2 hours earlier.

They arrested the man, who already had his pride torn after a 12-year-old girl warded him off.

It won’t be long before more of his pride gets hurt when he’s sent back to prison.

One of their neighbors spoke to the news channel covering the story about how unusual such an event is.

Woodland is a quiet, peaceful place. But that doesn’t mean some of its residents won’t fight back if provoked.
