Is there anything dads won’t do for their daughters?
Girls just seem to know how to wrap their dads around their fingers.
Mike Hanley is a comedian that decided to go all out on a prank at his daughter’s Bat Mitzvah – and her daughter was in on it!
It all started on the dance floor.
13-year-old Jessica had been enjoying the big milestone with her family and friends. A Bat Mitzvah ceremony is a special event for a Jewish girl, which celebrates her coming of age in the religious community.
As the crowd watched, Mike took his daughter’s hand to dance. The song “My Girl” started playing and everyone let out a collective “awwww” from the sweet moment on display in front of them.
The two slow danced by themselves, but little did guests know they had a surprise up their sleeves.
Suddenly, the music changed to the Whitney Houston hit song, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody!” Jessica jumped back and began playing along with the lyrics, while Mike stood hilariously shaking his head.
It was just the beginning of one of the most awesome father and daughter dances ever.
Every few moments, the song would change and the dancing duo had a whole routine planned for it!
They did a little swing to “Mambo No. 5,” flew like Superman for the hip hop track “Crank That,” and even brought in The Jackson 5. Of course, there was some “Grease Lightning” too.
Mike, a pro comedian, added such a hilarious vibe to the whole thing. He had people laughing as he tried (and failed) to keep up with the music and moves.
On his website, he’s described as follows:
“Mike Hanley’s unique style of high energy, full tilt comedy has left audiences all over erupting in laughter. If you are married you will laugh at Mike’s hysterical stories. If you are single you will want to stay that way for the rest of your life. From relationships to kids to the day to day grind, Mike has a story that will be sure to have you on the edge of your seat.”
The fact that Mike took the time out of his busy schedule to learn the routine with his daughter, goes to show how much she’s his number one.
There was still more to come! Shaking around, walking like a zombie to “Thriller” and doing some hand flips for the “Macarena”, the covered about every song you can possibly dance to!
They did some “Kung Fu Fighting,” vogued to Madonna, and “Partied in the U.S.A.” with Miley Cyrus. It’s seriously tiring just watching the two in action.
Eventually, their routine comes full circle and they end on “My Girl,” finishing their slow dance. They ended where they began and the cute-moment-turned-funny was back to where they started.
The pair entertained their guests with what some consider to be the “best” father-daughter dance out there.
The hugely popular video has been viewed over 21 million times! Of all the daddy-daughter dances out there, this might be the most famous!
Not only did Mike and Jessica create quite the memory performing their dance, but it must have taken weeks of practice to get it down. All that time together for a dad and daughter sure is priceless.
For all the hours spend prepping this, Mike deserves the Dad Trophy of the Year!

My dad and I had an unbreakable bond,I miss him everyday.I pray someday to find someone who will love my daughters the way my dad loved me.
Please tell me it’s normal to cry during these songs
To all the people that there father isn’t good to them or there for them just remember that you have a heavenly father who loves you and cares for you and is always there for you. May God bless everyone.
sadly lots of little girls today do not have this in their lives…
I lost my father several years ago. It was unexpected and it happened pretty fast. It was Christmas time and I was at college. It was the last day and then we were going to be out for Christmas break. Our school was hosting a talent show and during the middle of it I got a call from my aunt. She told me my dad was real sick and I needed to get to Texas to be by his side as soon as possible. I left that night from Kansas. I spent Christmas by his bed side. There were no gifts, no happy laughter. Just four, cold, white walls and the hum of the flickering ceiling light. In less than a week he was gone. I was only 23. I wasn’t ready to face the world without the man who had been my rock throughout my entire life. I eventually found a new rock and I’m finally getting married next summer, to a man who treats me well. He reminds me of my father in many ways. Strong, funny, and has a great heart. I know my daddy would approve. And I was really upset about the father/daughter dance I was never going to have, but I think I can still have it with this song. I know my husband will hold me tight and let me cry on his shoulder, because lord knows I will, and I think it will be a great way to honor my father’s life. So glad I came across this song today.
Danced to this with my beautiful daughter a couple weeks ago. Made it through without crying then….not so much now. So very proud of her and I know she has chosen a Godly man that will take care of her.
