When you’re expecting a baby, health is generally the main concern. Regardless of the sex, we hope the child comes out healthy without any critical dilemmas. Some people even say they don’t care about the sex if the baby is healthy. And while I’m not calling them a liar— I do think that everyone has a bit of a preference deep down. Take Kennedy Zarour, for example, a devoted father of five.

Kennedy has twin girls from his first marriage and three young daughters with his new wife, Natalie.

At the time of this story, the twins, Ariana and Collette, were 20 years old and grown, but Mia, Jolie and Giselle, his daughters with Natalie, were all under six years of age. Despite their large family, Kennedy and Natalie were expecting and excited to add another baby to the bunch.

The Waldwick, New Jersey, couple had decided to keep the gender of this baby a secret, wanting it to be a surprise. When doctors scheduled an emergency C-section on March 8, 2017, an anxious Kennedy rushed to buy 2 bottles of wine as celebratory preparations for the occasion.

Natalie, however, had a different plan up her sleeve. She wanted to record Kennedy’s reaction when he found out if it was a boy or girl— and, as you can see in the video, she wasn’t disappointed! She told TODAY:

“I was elated by the overwhelming joy (of Kennedy’s reaction).”

In a video uploaded to YouTube, we see the exact moment nurses tell Kennedy that, after five daughters, he’s finally gotten a son.

The video begins as Kennedy confirms he’d like to know the sex. When the nurse tells him it’s a boy, he jumps out of his seat and begins to shout.

“Oh my God! I love it!”

“Yeah, baby! I got a boy!”

The excited father dances around the hospital room in excitement. He jumps around maniacally, giving his wife a kiss on the cheek.

In fact, Kennedy gets so excited that at one point a doctor asks him to sit down. “I was just waiting for them to tell me it was a girl, and they told me it was a boy, and I guess my reaction was a little insane,” he told TODAY. “I couldn’t believe I got that excited,” he continued. “I didn’t know what I was doing, I was just running around that place like a madman.”

“I adore all my kids and I would’ve been very happy with a girl, but it was definitely a nice surprise.”

Baby Gerard was born on March 8, 2017, at the Hackensack University Medical Center in Westwood.

Since being uploaded to YouTube, Kennedy’s reaction has been viewed over 757,000 times!

Comments on the story read:

“That’s great! Had a daughter and a son but would’ve been happy having two of the same sex. I feel blessed I get the opportunity to raise one of each sex though. They’re both so unique and special.”

“Love all my kids but there is something special about daddy’s girl…. wouldn’t give that up for the anything.”

“People have preferences, some have disappointment, but at the end of the day when they are handed the baby, everyone is ecstatic. It’s just funny when the stars align like this.”
