There are a million and one reasons to love the holidays, but most would agree that spending time with friends and family is the best. Sadly though, not everyone gets to do so.

Though many of us are afforded the luxury, those who work in hospitals, firefighters, police, and airports, are not so lucky. Their jobs are such an important part of our society, that they are unable to have much time off, if any.

But one lucky young lady has a stellar father who made sure that she would feel the joys of Christmas even if it was thousands of miles in the air.

Pierce Vaughan works for Delta Airlines. In 2018, she was scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Not only did Pierce have to be gone over the holiday, but she was scheduled to work on six flights.

Talk about exhausting! But that’s just how it goes for someone in her field.

Pierce’s dad, Hal, didn’t want his daughter to be alone during the holidays so he did the unimaginable. He booked a seat on every single one of her flights.

Wow. That’s incredible and downright heartwarming!

A passenger named Mike Levy sat next to Hal on his first-class trip from Fort Meyers, Florida to Detroit, Michigan. He was awestruck when he heard of Hal’s thoughtful gesture.

He took a selfie with Hal and also snapped a photo of Pierce. He then uploaded the photos to Facebook and wrote about it.

It didn’t take long before the story lit up the internet. People everywhere were touched by the dad’s sweet act of kindness that showed just how much he loved his daughter.

Levy was surprised at the attention his post received. He told Scary Mommy, “I’m happy to share such an amazing story. And I never thought it would get this big, didn’t think I would have 10 shares let alone this!”

We’re so glad he did share the moment. It’s easy to take for granted those who love and appreciate us. This was an awesome reminder.

In his Facebook post, Levy wrote:

“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!”

Pierce herself even enjoyed the post. She shared it on her page as well. In her caption, she expressed gratitude and thanks to her team on her flights and her coworkers in general. But she didn’t fail to mention her father!

According to Scary Mommy, she wrote:

“Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success! A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle). [Shout-out] to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is!”

As parents, we’ll do anything for our children, especially if it means that we can spend time with them. However, this dad certainly deserves some kind of award for his amazing effort.
