We don’t know about you, but there’s nothing that we love more than watching a surprise pregnancy reveal video- and the more creative they are, the better. Some of our favorite videos have to be the ones where the kids are surprised- because there’s always the potential for kids to take the news one of two ways.
So when we came across a video on YouTube of parents surprising their five kids with the announcement of another baby, we couldn’t wait to hear what their reaction would be. The dad thinks of a pretty creative way of making the announcement to his children, and their reactions are completely priceless.
Dad sits all 5 kids down
The adorable video which was posted onto YouTube by Ryan Finlay, begins with all five children sitting on the couch. There are a total of two girls and three boys, and they’re sitting in order from youngest to eldest.
Try not to laugh
The dad cleverly tells his kids that he is making a “try not to laugh” video, so that none of them will be suspicious about the camera. He then launches into some stories that are bound to make kids chuckle; including cat poop, cleaning toilets with toothbrushes and even a joke announcement that the cat, Tiger, is going to have a baby.
Can’t keep a straight face
Of course, it’s a struggle for the kids to keep a straight face through all of this, but all things considered, we think they’re doing a pretty good job at it! The little boy in the middle seems the most giggly, and has an interesting tactic for holding off his laughter- by holding his nose and putting his head bent forwards!
We have to say, we think that the girls are doing better than the boys at holding their laughter in- though we can’t be sure that the youngest of the bunch knows exactly what’s going on. Ryan continues with his funny stories for a few minutes, but still nobody has cracked more than a smile! So now seems like a perfect time to throw in the bombshell.
“We’re going to have a baby,” Ryan says. When all of his kids continue to sit there straight-faced, he adds, “I’m serious, you guys are going to have a little sister or a little brother.”
At this, everybody suddenly begins to crack up laughing.
“I know you’re not, I know you’re joking.” The middle child insists. “I had to laugh, because I know you’re not having a baby.”
But when the kids find out that their parents are actually being serious, their denial is replaced by excitement. Naturally, the buys are hoping for a little brother, while the girls are hoping for a baby sister. But most importantly, everyone seems completely thrilled to be welcoming a new edition to the family.
The heartwarming video ends with a discussion on which gender they predict the baby is going to be, with four of the kids opting for a girl and one of them opting for a boy. Ryan then tells the camera that he predicts that the baby is going to be a boy, and we wonder who’s going to be right?
As the video was posted back in 2017, we took to the family’s YouTube channel to have a little peek at what gender the baby turned out to be- but it turns out that no such video was posted. Come on guys, don’t keep us in the dark!
