Sure… there are probably jobs that are harder than being a mom. But being a stay-at-home mom is NOT an easy job. But Brad Kerns, who goes by the name DaDMum on social media, said it was.
While he’s at work all day, he wonders what his wife, who is a stay-at-home-mom to their three kids and goes by Mrs DaDMum, is doing.
He describes it as, “Not much really.” Before you grab your pitchforks and torches ladies, know that his comments were sarcastic.
His Facebook post goes on to explain what a stressful workday he had which he compares with the day his wife had. He had to travel a 5-hour round journey by car and by train to sit in a very important meeting and talk business all day.
His day was “exhausting.”
“And what’s my wife doing? Not much really. All she has to do is get two boys up, dressed and fed whilst breastfeeding the third. Then no doubt they’ll need to be taken outside or to a park to get all that energy out,” he says describing his wife’s first tasks of the day.
“How easy is that? All she has to do is sort their bags out, find the hats, pack some snacks and a spare change of clothes and buckle them into the car.”
Once she gets to the park she had to feed the baby again. She also has to keep an eye on her other children and help them get on and off the swings while holding the baby.
Then she has to pack them in the car and take them home and feed them lunch.
“They probably won’t eat it. Then whilst trying to get them to rest she’ll jump online and do some online shopping. Groceries… what a life. Pffft…. as if you wouldn’t just go to woolies with three kids on your own,” Kerns says.
“No doubt in the afternoon they’ll be demanding to ride their bikes, scooters, go-karts and run around out the back. She’ll probably just sit around and feed Teddy again.”
After that is where the fun kicks in. At this point, they are tired and grumpy. At this point, she has to play referee and stop her kids from hitting each other.
“Well at 5 she’ll want to know where I’m at and how I’m tracking. Groceries are about to be delivered and the boys are going crazy. Teddy needs to be held and she has to feed them and begin night routine. I’ll probably reply with a “call you back” message coz I’m busy as fuck,” Kearns explains.
Now it’s time for his wife to cook dinner for the kids, make sure they eat it, get them in the bath, put on their PJs, and get them ready for bed.
Remember, she’s doing this with one hand because she’s holding the baby in the other.
“I’ll strut my shit into the house at 7:30 after my massive day. She’ll be just chilling on her phone near a toddler or babies cot because they struggling to go to sleep and I bet the groceries are still out because she managed to just get the fridge stuff packed away,” Kearns says.
Kearns will often prepare dinner for he and his wife. And while his day was “massive,” he knows it was nothing compared to what his wife does at a stay-at-home-mom every single day.
“Thank you Mrs DaDMuM for everything you do for us. You’re the glue,” he writes.
Kearns’ followers applauded him for praising his wife and acknowledging her sacrifice and hardwork.
“Thanks for appreciating how hard it is being at home, not always recognized by partners. I go to work for a rest,” said one of his followers.
“It’s because of your attitude, acknowledgement, respect and sacrifice Brad that Sarah kicks ass at being the glue. No ones perfect but you make an awesome team,” said another.
