Being a parent isn’t always easy, and one of the toughest jobs for moms and dads with little ones in the house is putting them to sleep in a simple, peaceful, and reliable way.

More often than not, little kids just don’t seem to like bedtime and will do absolutely anything to stay up late, but one awesome dad is helping out the parents of the world by revealing his super secret techniques!

Introducing Jordan Watson, also known as How to DAD.

Jordan is a New Zealand father and YouTuber you might be familiar with, renowned for his hilarious video parenting guides, covering everything from How to Home-School Kids in Lockdown to How to Toilet Train a Two Year Old.

Jordan has a few children and makes videos with each of them. For this one, he was accompanied by his adorable little girl, Alba.

The video begins with Jordan’s usual “G’day” greeting as he stands beside Alba’s crib. He then asks if she’d like to sleep, and the little one promptly responds by lying right down and getting cozy! Of course, as Jordan himself says, it’s never really that easy, so he then introduces us to some of his favorite techniques.

The Shush Train is the first secret sleep method Jordan reveals.

Many parents will be able to relate to this one! It’s when you simply say “Shh! Shh! Shh!” over and over, sounding a little like a train in the process and hoping your child gets the message.

In reality, this method often doesn’t work all that well, but Alba is one very well-behaved baby as she responds to the shushing by once again flopping down in her bed.

Next up, Jordan reveals another special trick – taking a standard blanket and renaming it ‘Blanky’ to make it sound more special and magical.

“Works every time,” he says as he gives a thumbs up to the camera, and the video goes on from there.

He goes through a range of different techniques, including ‘Method Acting’, which is when he pretends to take a nap himself in order to encourage Alba to do the same, and ‘The Tap Out’, which is basically just Jordan saying “I’ll go and get your mom!”

Jordan even brings some fun props into the mix when he shows off his ‘Hypnotist’ technique, dangling a little musical toy in front of Alba’s face to tire her out, as well as showing off his singing talents during the ‘Dad Who Doesn’t Know A Single Lullaby’ segment.

The whole video feels like a hilarious, family-friendly sketch comedy show, with two awesome daddy-daughter performers.

Credit goes to Jordan for coming up with all these funny ideas, but Alba deserves a lot of respect too for playing along and pretending to sleep at the end of each little skit.

We’re not too sure how effective these different tricks would really be, but any desperate moms and dads out there looking for some fresh ideas to help out during bedtime will at least get a few laughs from giving the video a watch.
