Any parent will do everything they can in their power to provide for their child and give them comfort.
They will do it even if it’s uncomfortable for them.

A dad was seated behind his teenage daughter who wanted to sleep. As any person who has flown economy on any airplane, it’s hard to get comfortable sleep while flying. You’ll either toss and turn trying to find the right position and never get to sleep at all. Or you’ll be able to go to sleep and wake up with a sore neck, arms, or back.
It’s a lose-lose situation.
This father knows this feeling all too well. And he knows his daughter will have to make the same difficult choice.
If you’re a parent like this dad, then you know that you will do anything to make life less difficult for your child, even if it hurts you. And that’s what this father did.
He made the choice for this daughter so she could sleep on the plane with less worry.
What did he do? He used his hand as her pillow.
He placed his hand on top of his daughter’s armrest to be her pillow and his daughter placed her head on his hand. For 45 minutes, this man kept his hand stretched out on the armrest in front of him. He did not move for the rest of the flight or at least while his daughter slept peacefully.
Would you do the same for your daughter or your son or your spouse?
There are some people who were touched by the father’s sweet gesture.
“Honestly I just became a Dad and I can see myself doing that for my kid as well,” bestboiyo_JayDee256 said.
“Been dadding for 6 years now and a sore arm is a small price to pay for a well-rested kiddo. Especially while traveling when they’re already off their normal schedule,” _uCanDoBetterBrO_ said.
There are still some people though who disagreed and said they could have thought of better options other than his hand.
They could have asked the flight attendant for a blanket or they could have brought a pillow. We’ll never know what happened before this to land them with a hand-pillow as a choice.
Maybe blankets were not available in this plane, which is the most common scenario when flying domestically nowadays. Or maybe they did have a pillow but it wasn’t clean enough to be used as a pillow.
Or maybe the dad really had no other option but to use his hand.
Some Redditers were alarmed because the girl looked like she was already old enough to solve her own problems and shouldn’t have to rely on her dad to solve them for her. But we don’t know the entire story, right?
Maybe the girl was having a mental breakdown and her dad’s comforting hand under her head was the only thing keeping her calm.
No matter what the real story is, we shouldn’t judge how they chose to solve this problem. Let’s just take it for what it is, a photo of a dad comforting his child.
