She thought it was totally hopeless. But her dad, Mark Rosen, wanted to record it anyway.
He says he knew in his heart that his daughter, Shannon Rosen, had passed her nursing exams.
So, they were both really glad they recorded their reactions to her getting the good nes that she passed and would be licensed to practice as a registered nurse.
The emotional moment ended up going viral, bringing many across the world to tears.
But not as many as Mark shed when he found out his daughter would be fulfilling her calling to be a nurse.
“I said to Shannon, ‘Shannon, let’s make a video of this, pass or fail. Because this will be something that you can look back on the rest of your life because this is going to be your life’s career,” Mark 65, told “Good Morning America.” “Your kids and maybe your grandkids can look back at this video and they can cherish it.’”
Shannon said she had already convinced herself that she failed her licensing exams that would allow her to work as a registered nurse.
“I was so scared, nervous, already crying before viewing the result, thinking that I failed,” she said.
Shannon was visibly nervous in the video, saying her heart was beating out of her chest.
She was very hesitant to click on the results, but her dad helped to calm her down.
Thankfully all that worrying was unwarranted.
According to Mark, it isn’t uncommon for people to have to take the test more than once.
“I told her prior to that, regardless of the outcome, what you’re going to find out, ‘I’m still going to love you just as I do from the minute you were born,’” he said.
Shannon didn’t always plan on being a nurse. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in family and child sciences.
But she wasn’t exactly sure what type of career she wanted to pursue.
She spent a year working and saving money while planning her next move.
She says that she was taking a “leap of faith” when she applied to nursing school.
Shannon admits to having a bit of imposter syndrome, telling herself that she isn’t capable or worthy of doing certain things.
But she’s always managed to prove herself wrong when she sets her mind to it.

In order to pay for nursing school, Shannon had to move back in with her parents.
Mark, who was retired, went back to work and got a job at Hershey Co. to help pay for her nursing school.
This way she wouldn’t have to work as hard and could focus on studying and making her dream of becoming a nurse a reality.
Being able to take her exams was a family effort which is why her passing them was such an emotional moment for her family.
