Parents will go to great lengths to make sure their kids have a good time. Even if it means being silly and/or humiliating themselves in the process.
I remember my grandfather used to pretend that our car was a spaceship when he would drive us around. And we absolutely loved it as the simple act of driving in a car became an amazing fun and entertaining adventure.
And making sure your kids have a good time doesn’t mean having to dish out the dollars.
You don’t have to haul your kids to the zoo, the aquarium, or Disney World to create beautiful long lasting family memories. Those memories can be created at home for very little or even no money at all. And sometimes those kinds of memories end up being the fondest of them all.
The dad in this YouTube video posted by KentuckyFriedIdiot knows that and created what he calls the “poor people roller coaster” for his child.
And you can make one at home too! Here’s what you’ll need:
- A plastic storage bin
- A Smart TV
- The YouTube App for your Smart TV
- Internet Access
- Upper arm strength
The poor people roller coaster involves placing your child in a plastic storage bin and holding them up to your Smart TV while you play a video of a roller coaster. Then you pretend that your child is actually riding the roller coaster by shaking and moving the plastic big all around with your child inside.
And this dad totally gets into it.
At first, he holds his child up and lightly shakes as the roller coaster climbs upward.
“Getting higher,” he says.
Then he starts to make a chugging noise to mimic the sounds of the roller coaster as his child giggles.
“Look at how high you’re getting, oh no!” he says building his child’s excitement.
The as the roller coaster reaches its peak, he starts to tip the bin forward.
“Ahhhh, ahhh,” he says as he shakes the bin side to side and the video shows the roller coaster plummeting downward.
He begins to move the bin faster and makes a swooshing sound as the coaster gains speed making sharp curves and going through tunnels.
“Ahhhh,” he says. “Whooaaaaa.”
He and his child both giggle a little bit. He even stops his shaking when the roller coaster comes to a halt. This creative dad just created a free fun experience for his child with things he already had in his home. All it took was a little imagination and creativity.
