It’s incredibly important to spend time with your kids. For father/daughter relationships it can be essential to find common interests in activities that can keep you close together and develop your connection. Especially during a time when people around the world are being isolated with their families, they have a choice. On the one hand, you can simply put up with each other’s presence…
Or take advantage of the opportunity to spend quality time together.
This great dad went ahead and did that in a time before social isolation!
Sharidon Johnson and his daughter Cami are no strangers to a little friendly dance-battle. They have a few videos online from their many fancy-footed face0ffs. And this one, is a real rollicking romp!
The song they dance to is none other than Black Moon’s “Who Got Da Props”.
It’s an old school hip hop beat and just listening to it is enough to make you want to get up and join these two on the dance floor. Of course by dance floor I actually mean living room floor, but who’s splitting hairs hey?
After they strike their beginning poses, they jump right into the “battle”.
There’s no doubting that these two have a blast together when they make these videos, and you can tell that they particularly enjoy spending the time together.
There’s obviously a lot of trust between these two!
Not that most people wouldn’t trust their dads to catch them if they fall, but I certainly wouldn’t trust mine to remember the choreography, including that it would be time to do the trust fall.
And let’s not forget the old school hip hop moves.
Oh boy do these two have swagger! Looks like if style is hereditary, then the apple does not fall far from the tree!
You have to wonder who does most of this choreography.
With all these old school hip hop styles, it seems like Sharidon must have done most of the choreography, but the way Cami can lead the charge is truly impressive!
Then, true to a “dance battle”, they each get their time centre-stage.
When Cami jumps in, Dad better get out of the way because this girl is here to MOVE! With the enthusiasm of youth she turns the dance routine up a notch.
But then when Sharidon hops in, he shows us how it’s done!
The apple may not fall far from the tree, but when the tree gets to show what it’s got, those apples best get out the way. Cami still continues dancing behind Sharidon, having the time of her life.
And of course you cannot do an old school dance without a little arm wave.
Just as Sharidon is passing over his knowledge of hip hop dance to his daughter, she passes the arm wave right back over to him. This is unequivocally one of the most fun dance moves one can do, and this girl doing it with her dad is just so cute.
Then, of course you have to end by striking a pose.
Just look at these two living their best lives together. Their connection is inspirational, and not only makes you want to get up and dance, but to spend quality time with those who matter most to us.
