They’re calling him the “Daderina.” Marc Daniels has become a viral star this week after he gave us a lesson in how good parenting is done.
Daniels was at his daughter’s dress ballet rehearsal when the incident occurred.
His 2-year-old daughter Isabella was onstage in her pretty costume with her fellow dancers at Hamilton City Hall in Bermuda. She suddenly became overwhelmed with stage fright.
She curled up in a ball and plopped herself on the floor and had herself a good cry. Daniels, a largely muscled barrister from Bermuda, tried to console his daughter from off stage. But it wasn’t working.
So, he took a more drastic approach.
He jumped up on stage with his daughter and the rest of the little girls to relieve her of her stage fright. He started mimicking steps that the teacher was doing, hoping it would encourage his daughter to do the same.
And he did this all while holding his baby Suri as mom was helping out backstage. His daughter felt encouraged and ended up dancing with her fellow students.
He spun around, bent his knees, and kicked up his feet.
All this guy needed was a tutu. And the crowd was absolutely loving it. They thought it was hysterical. Someone ended up videotaping the dance routine and put it up on social media where it ended up going viral.
“Bella was very emotional and needed hugs from her daddy,” Daniels said. “Despite having a tantrum, I can tell she wanted to stay on stage. I didn’t want to discourage her before the big performance by making her be the only one to come off.”
Daniels just wanted to instill some confidence in his daughter to help her pull through the tough moment.
“I walked on holding Suri and stood next to her, trying to help build her confidence – I told her I loved her and that she’s an amazing dancer,” he said. “I asked if she wanted to dance with daddy and she nodded, so I thought I’d join in.”
This wasn’t the first time that Daniels danced with his daughter.
“I’ve practiced with them at home on many occasions so it wasn’t unfamiliar to me,” he said. “At home she’s always dancing, but on Tuesday that energy was clearly lacking – she simply wasn’t having any of it.”
Not only did the internet get a kick out of the video but Daniels’ coworkers did too.
“Jurors, police officers and members of the prosecution have even been giving me twirls and plies as a token of appreciation for the video,” he told Independent. “Even in court the other day, one of the magistrates made a comment about my moves that prompted the court to erupt in laughter.”
He’s pretty much getting noticed everywhere for his fancy footwork.
“Before having the girls I don’t think I’d ever attempted any ballet moves before, but now everyone in Bermuda knows me for my toe-pointing – maybe it’s never too late to become a ballerina,” he joked, according to The Sun.
