“Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.” – Kevin Arnold
Some people love to keep items that hold significant meanings to their lives.
Then there are some people who have no problem discarding old stuff.
Which one are you?
A year ago, Reddit user, Amy Lauren, posted a story that went viral. It was one of the sweetest things that a daughter could do for her mother.
According to Amy, her mother, upon realizing that her most precious crib wouldn’t last long, didn’t want to part with it.
It was too hard to let go.
“My mom didn’t want to part with the crib she used for her children and grandkids. So I made it into this with the names and DOBs of each kid who slept in it. Hopefully she will like it,” Amy Lauren posted.
A matter of sentiment.
That crib had so many memories for Amy’s mother.
She bought it forty years ago when her firstborn, Mark Joshua, was born last March 05, 1980.
Two years later, Amy was born, and she also used the crib.
After more than two decades, Mark had kids, three of them in total, and each one also used the very sturdy crib.
Then it was Amy’s turn.
She had her son last 2014 and a set of twins a year after. They, too, used the well-loved family crib.
No wonder Amy’s mom loved the crib so much. It became a part of their family.
Amy knew how meaningful the crib was for her mom.
Then one day, she had an idea.
She created a keepsake from the crib that she would give to her mom.
Amy created a wall art using a post from the family crib. Then, she stenciled the names of each child who used the crib, complete with their birth date.
It was one of the most thoughtful and sweetest acts of love.
The project wasn’t easy.
According to Amy’s post, it took her a while before she could remove the little bits inside the letters. However, all her hard work paid off.
The finished product looked amazing!
The keepsake looked so beautiful.
The post from the crib and the names of each baby who used the crib were like a compilation of memories.
Many comments expressed their happiness with the finished keepsake.
Some said that Amy’s mom would surely love the memento because her daughter, one of the babies who used the crib, made it.
Another commenter said it was beyond beautiful and a creative way to remember the crib.
Amy posted an update.
When her mom opened the gift and found out what it was, she started “ugly” crying. Amy told everyone who followed her story that her mom loved it.
The crib that had served the family for many decades will forever be treasured.
