When you finally get your toddler down for a nap, there’s usually a sense of relief. After all, little ones can reach a point in the day where they really need some shut-eye (and frankly, the parent probably deserves some too).
A North Carolina mom got her daughter down to sleep one afternoon, only to realize that something wasn’t right. She couldn’t find her dog! So instead of finally being able to relax – she started looking around.
Kristin Leigh is the mom in the story and she had adopted her dog Raven from a rescue shelter 10 years before.
The mom checked around the house for Raven, even looking outside for him as well. Little did she know he was actually in the cutest spot ever (and being a very good boy might I add).
Apparently, Raven thought he needed a nap too.
Kristin found her lovable pooch sleeping in her daughter Addison’s room. But instead of being curled up on the floor like a lot of other dogs – he was actually laying with the toddler in her bed!
The sight was so sweet that Kristin decided to hit record on her phone and film the pair together.
In the footage, Kristin tiptoes into the room trying not to wake the adorable nappers. Raven hears his mom and pops his doggie head up for a moment. Perhaps he’s thinking… Whoops – you caught me!
While some dogs might feel guilty and scurry out of bed, not Raven.
Even though Kristin’s in the room, the dog lays his head back down to continue his slumber. Can you really blame him though? He’s got a pillow, blanket, and his best buddy laying next to him. From what it looks like, maybe little Addison is the one who tucked him in!
The toddler also looks as “snug as a bug in a rug.”
Many kids need a security item to help them fall asleep. You can see in the video that Addison has a stuffed lamb in her bed that’s perhaps her nighttime friend. But going from how comfy the dog looks – Lamby might have to start making room for Raven more often!
Mom continues to film her two “babies” and it’s simply adorable.
In the video, she pets the dog on his head and tells him, “Good boy, Ray Ray.” He seems super content to be able to continue his nap with Addison!
Fortunately for us animal lovers, Kristin decided to share the clip online. By no surprise, it ended up going viral!
In the YouTube video description she wrote:
“That moment you can’t find your dog and you even go outside looking for him…only to walk in the house and find him snuggled up in bed next to your toddler.”
Kristin also opened up about Raven, her beautiful rescue dog.
“People that say “money can’t buy happiness” have never paid an adoption fee. 10 years ago I left a rescue with this little guy and I often wonder…who rescued who? I gave him a home, but he gave me so, so much more.”
She continued:
“RESCUED” is my favorite breed! Dogs have a way of finding the people that need them…filling an emptiness we didn’t even know we had…”
