Being able to negotiate is one of the greatest skills to have in life. But usually you don’t need this skill until you’re an adult. When you have a job and bills to pay — stuff like that — that’s when it really comes in handy.
But of course, that’s not always true. Sometimes you need to learn how to negotiate very early on in life. It’s a little rare, but it happens.
One instance where this would be the case: when you are one among many siblings. That’s when things get a little bit tricky because it’s assumed that you’ll be in a situation where all of your siblings are fighting for the same thing.
That’s when you’ll need to offer them something in order to get what you want.
This little girl has 8 siblings, so even though she is very young, she is already familiar with the art of negotiation.
In a video uploaded to Youtube, we see the young lady trying to set up a negotiation with her father, who’s filming, where she offers him “all of her money.” (Spoiler alert: she doesn’t have a ton of money.)
“What are you doing, girl?” her dad says at the beginning of the clip, as she’s caught sucking on some sort of candy. To answer her dad’s question, she lets out a big laugh.
Then the little lady decides to get savvy. She offers her father something (she thinks) he can’t refuse.
“If I swallow it I’ll have to give you all of my money,” she says.
“How much money do you have?” Her dad responds.
“Five bucks… five dollars,” she answers.
Her dad double checks that she would, in fact, give him all her money, to which she says yes. Then, acting like it’s a big deal for the sake of entertainment, the dad asks his daughter what he can get for five dollars.
“Kind of a lot,” she answers with so much confidence, it’s hilarious.
Clearly, she has no concept of the worth of money, but her dad continues to go along with it.
“Really? That’s exciting,” he says, presumably with a big, fat smile on his face.
Even when the daughter thinks she’s convincing her dad, she unfortunately fails. But she is still super cute, so at least she still has that.
Plus, we have to say we’re pretty impressed with her negotiation skills. Even though her dad said no in the end, she did a pretty good job. She kept his attention for a moment and offered him a pretty fair deal, we’d say.
“We are a family of 8, with 2 golden retrievers, in a 2 bedroom home learning to embrace the joyful chaos of life. We are raising free-range, holistic living, home school kids who love adventures and having fun,” the Lomelino family shared under the post.
When you have that many siblings, negotiation is a crucial skill to have. We’d say that she’s going to be pretty successful in the future if she continues to be this savvy!
