How do you define unconditional love?

Some would probably say that you could only give this kind of love to someone who’s related to you by blood. It could also happen between a married couple.

But to be honest, there are some people who are willing to give unconditional love to those who are not related to them.

Meet Linda Herring, a 75-years-old who spent almost her entire life loving children who were not related to her by blood. She is now retired from doing what she loves – which is fostering children. But for 50 years, she dedicated her whole heart to doing that precious thing.

This amazing woman from Johnson County, Iowa faced the beauty and challenges of fostering children.

It wasn’t easy. That’s for sure. But she endured it and even committed herself to it. It’s despite the condition of every child as well as the effects of their initial upbringing. Not all of us could do the same thing, don’t you agree?

Thankfully, she received the recognition that she deserves.

It’s safe to say that loving children is her favorite thing in the world. She gave them love without hesitations and took care of them like they are her own.

Apart from that, Linda also ran a daycare and performed custodian duties at a local high school. What a woman! Her heart is filled with kindness and love. Not to mention that she was a first-responder volunteer, too.

It was not just a job for her.

She really dedicated her life to taking care of kids. In fact, she adopted three of her foster kids. So she and her husband Bob have eight kids in total.

One of the kids whom she adopted is Anthony.

Linda already took care of him when he was still six months old. When he reached 3, the couple decided to officially adopt him. Two of the kids that she adopted have serious medical issues but were able to bear them with her guidance and love.

Now that Anthony is a grown-up, he couldn’t be more thankful for Linda and Bob’s love for him.

“I appreciate being adopted even more today as a parent than when I was a child,” he said.

Apart from making him feel loved, the couple also made sure to teach Anthony an important lesson – which he gladly shared.

“She and dad taught me that family isn’t determined by blood, it’s who you have in your life to love.”

A loving person like Linda deserves to be loved, too.

It’s truly amazing how a person like Linda could give such a huge amount of love to other people. It’s something that’s a bit hard to do for many of us. She did it despite the challenges that she faced.

Hopefully, she’s still able to bond with her children as well as the foster kids that she loved. There’s no doubt that the kids are her happiness.

I hope that many people would be able to hear her story because she just taught us what unconditional love is.

Thank you, Linda! Your kindness has definitely changed many lives.
