When a Scottish family posted up an ad on the internet offering a salary of more than $60,000 for a full-time nanny and housekeeper, they received a whopping amount of 2000 responses.

The beginning of the post makes it sound like a quite warm place with normal and simple tasks for the housekeeper to complete.

The post mentions a “lovely, spacious, historic property in a remote spot with spectacular views” for a family with a 5- and a 7-year-old child.

The job description itself also sounds fairly straightforward:

“Duties would include preparing breakfast, getting the children ready for school, dropping off and picking up from school and assisting after school, including helping with homework and getting them ready for bed.”

It gets even better, as the position only requires the housekeeper to work up to four nights a week and wouldn’t even require working on the weekends. Both parents have a quite a busy work schedule, which is why they decided to post the ad.

To make things even sweeter, the family also provides whoever wins the job application with a minimum of 28 days for holidays and an own room including bathroom and a private kitchen.

Who could possibly say no to that? As usually is the case, some things are too good to be true.

There is a catch, as the parents claim that the house is actually haunted. They’ve lived there for ten years, but are completely convinced that ghosts are wandering in and around the premises.

“We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. 5 nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.”

“We are keen to find the perfect long-term nanny, so if you’d like to be considered for this rewarding and exciting position, please do get in touch with us.”

The CEO of Childcare.co.uk, the website where the ad was posted, spoke to The Telegraph and said that it was “the most interesting story we’ve heard.”
