The struggle is real when trying to take a family photo. The babies start crying, the older children are already over it before the camera starts clicking, and the parents stress levels are through the roof. Every family wants the perfect Christmas family photo but actually getting one is rare. It does not seem like it should be so hard but every family knows that it is. While some Christmas photos are hilariously awkward to look back on years later. Everyone might have been smiling but the fashion or hairstyles did not age well.
Just No
If a family is going to a do a Christmas morning pajama picture, then everyone needs to be wearing pajamas. The dad might sleep without a shirt but he has to at least have one on for the pajama picture. Otherwise, it is just awkward.
Naughty List
These parents were proud that they were able to get a picture with mall Santa without one single tear from their son. They were happy about the picture process until they realized this mall Santa is on the naughty list.
Redo
Five children and only one child with a smile, that is pretty good odds. When they found the picture 27 years later, they just had to redo it. She can rock that sad face just as well 27 years later.
Watch The Fingers
This mom was happy with her Christmas photo. That is until she looked closely at her daughter’s fingers. Her daughter has already learned that with a nice smile you can get away without more than people understand. She had some real feelings about picture time but covered it with her cute smile.
Terrifying
Apparently Christmases in Yugoslavia are very different than expected. It just goes to show that kids will do anything for a Christmas present. They will even pose with a terrifying Santa, bunny, and whatever that other person is dressed as. King? Clown?
Scaredy Pants
Little Uncle Tex was not joking around when he said he was scared of Santa. His parents still forced the picture on him and the result was wet pants. He made sure to keep his eyes on him the entire time and to pee on his lap.
Enough is Enough
This little boy has had enough of taking pictures. He was patient in the beginning but could not hide it anymore. He just had to show his true feelings of being 100% over it.
Worst Day
Two sisters thought a surprise picture session of their kids would be a great gift. It ended up being the worst day of their lives. One three year old and two newborns is a recipe for disaster for a photo session.
Just Laugh
Sometimes the only thing left to do is laugh. This mama could not hold her laughter in after realizing her kids were not going to happily participate for the photos. The newborn even showed disinterest by throwing up on mama.
Pure Joy
Isn’t this little girl just the epitome of joy? Not at all. She must be a burgeoning fashionista because she had a cry fest over her sweater. She did not like and she was not going to “suffer” in silence.
New Parents
Normally it is the children that do not want to take Christmas pictures, but it is the parents in this picture. The dad does not want anything to do with the picture and the mom is mid sentence. Ah, the days before digital cameras and knowing how the picture turns out instantly.
No Judgement
There is no judgement for this one year old’s face of fear. There are some adults that would even be fearful of those Santa and Befana costumes. They are just asking for their child to have nightmares.
Angry Santa
Santa is supposed to be jolly and cheerful. Those are not two words we would use to explain this Santa. This is the angriest Santa that has ever existed. He should have tried out to be Scrooge instead.
Santa’s Melting
When Santa’s face starts melting it is time for Santa to head back to the North Pole. Teddy is not excited one bit to sit on the lap of a melting Santa. Luckily, this Christmas has long been forgotten by the children that it could have scarred.
Smart Decision
There was no way she was going to sit on this Santa’s lap and it was a very smart move on her part. She was old enough to realize this is a very creepy Santa Clause. Santa’s nose should never be that red and his body should never be that skinny.
Dog Fight
This family decided to just own their bad Christmas photo. They were not going to let their dogs ruin it. Instead of hiding it, they have framed it by their front door and show it off with pride. That’s our family.
Come As You Are
A family should always let each member pose exactly as they want. They each have their own style and it shows. It might be awkward know but kudos for letting everyone be proud of their self expression at the time.
Munster Christmas
Eddie Munster must have been this child’s favorite character because he cosplayed him for the Christmas card. This little boy was cosplaying before it was cool, back in 1991. If it got him to smile his parents were okay with it.
Smile Through Tears
Aunt Helen did her nieces dirty that Christmas. The niece on the left knew automatically that this homemade outfit was not for her. She cried and cried about being dressed in it but a compromise was made. She would take the picture but was not going to wear the bonnet.
Not The Pearls
Her mom tried to keep smiling but it was harder and harder as her baby grabbed her pearls with unusual strength. Kids can get away with a lot to get a good Christmas picture but they cannot get away with breaking mom’s pearls. That is a big no no.
At Home Studio
It is always a risk to try and take your own Christmas photos. This family had enough after 90 photos of the same madness. They decided to be honest about their life and sent out this picture in their Christmas cards to their family and friends. They know everyone will understand the struggle.
Romanian Christmas
What is with all the Santa masks? Parents should have realized that these masks are way creepy. These Santa eyes could see through any child with those big and staring eyes.
Confusion
He might have smiled if he wasn’t so confused. First of all, that is no where near the real Mickey Mouse and he knows it. He also is confused about the dunce hat and outfit they have made him wear.
Hold Her Tight
She is holding her dolly tight as she combats her fear of St. Nicolas. That was the best smile they were going to get with this St. Nicolas. Sadly, the lasting effect from forcing her to take this photo was a lifelong fear of clowns.
Matching Sweaters
Grandma knitted sweaters for her husband and three grandsons, but not for the dad of two of the grandchildren. He was left out of the matching sweaters but still forced into the picture. Three boys in one photo, this picture should count as a success.
Save Me
She wants to be saved from the weirdest Santa of all time. They are not going to get a good Santa picture with her pure terror. She needs a parent to pick her up and comfort her ASAP.
Winter Formal
Even goths love the holidays. They might not show it through their clothing attire but they do. This goth couple happily went to their winter formal but they were not going to wear any type of Christmas attire.
Santa’s Helper
Who knew that Santa had a bear as his sidekick? Apparently he did in 1977, but he has never been seen since. These children are just as shocked as we are about Santa’s new helper.
One and Only
This is the only baby picture he has and he has some feelings about it. He is asking why, but it might be an easy answer. He was actually smiling and happy in the photo and that is rare for baby photos, especially for a Christmas baby photo.
A Goth Christmas
These friends got all dressed up for their picture with Santa. Their sense of style is just a bit more unique than others. Santa did not mind, he was more than happy to take a picture with them.
Christmas Morning
He must have had a rough Christmas Eve because he was feeling rough on this Christmas morning. He is just trying to survive and many dads will understand that. Dads are the present makers for any present that needs assembling, hopefully he pulled it together.
