School picture day is an event that will document a student’s entire school year into one picture. Parents send them out to family members, especially the grandparents. They will also frame them in their household. Students get to wear their favorite outfit to showcase their high fashion style of the year. It is great when the picture turns out amazing but it is hilarious when they don’t. Kids are unpredictable and their school photos can easily turn into a hilarious mess.
The best part is the school picture will forever stay a part of your life. Parents will not throw them away no matter how bad they turn out and it will be lifelong evidence that family will blackmail you with. Here are 45 school pictures that hilariously turned into school picture fails.
1. Sugar High
This picture must have been taken after snack or lunch because he seems to be on a sugar high. When he was told to smile, he really smiled. He could not even concentrate enough to look into the camera. Something caught his eyes and his eyes stayed open and wide on it.
2. Green Screen
It was the wrong day to wear green to school. His green sweater made this student became one with picture day. He did not realize how much until his pictures were sent home.
3. One and Done
The school knew her parents were not going to be too impressed with this photo and offered a reshoot. Her parents declined and she was forever stuck with this photo. Her parents were not looking out for her with this photo choice.
4. Don’t Blink
He was told not to blink and he took those instructions seriously. He kept his eyes wide and open. They should have said nothing and his eyes might not have been staring straight into that photographer’s soul.
5. Picture Partner
He was told he could bring his favorite item to picture day. His Pee-Wee Herman doll made it with him. Pee-Wee Herman has the creepy smile, while he has an adorable smile to show off his favorite toy.
6. ’90s Mullet
She is school in the front, but recess in the back. There are certain hairstyles that will automatically make people of certain eras and the ’90s mullet is one of them. It was all the rage back then, but it is making a comeback now. Will she be wanting to rock it again in 2020?
7. Spring Allergies
Many schools did a proper school photo in the fall and a more lighthearted school picture in the spring. This kid is representing all the children with spring allergies, we feel you. Allergies will ruin any picture with swollen/itchy eyes and always being a second away from sneezing.

The photo on the left was the first photo he took in third grade. He was able to take a reshoot and his mother told him to smile. So, he made sure to really smile.

At age 7 he thought he had the coolest haircut in the class, but as an adult he has a lot of questions. One is why did his parents let him leave the house like that. Easy, his stepdad said that is how he wanted it and they respected his “style.”

David wanted to go incognito for his school picture, so he came in a disguise. David is unrecognizable with his beanie and beard, right?

Lauren is never going to let her twin forget that she was happy and alone for the first three and a half minutes of her life. Luckily for Lauren, Allison is willing to go along with the joke. She is willing to even let the joke be memorialized in their yearbook photos.

So, she wrote “I don’t want this” in its place hoping that they would take it off. Instead they wrote that instead of his name. It is during Pre-K that children learn the basics like counting and the ABC’s. The Pre-K teacher did not realize she also had to teach the basics of picture taking, like how to smile naturally. Since he had not learned that yet, his parents were surprised with this amazingly funny school picture.

He means business when he says he does not want his picture taken. He was not going to even try for a smile and kept his angry face up for all to see. Be careful, he might be a biter.

His mom might be the only person upset with these school photos. The rest of the world loves his enthusiasm for taking pictures. He might not be looking at the camera but his smile is still lighting up the photo.

He was angry and was not afraid to show it. He went full arms crossed to really show his anger. If this picture was taken before lunch he might have been hangry. If they took the photo after lunch he might have had an entire different picture.
26. 10 Going On 40
She was ten going on forty in this picture. Between her serious workplace attire and closed mouth smile, this photo could have worked for a workplace ID picture. Some people are just born as old souls and she was dressing the age she felt.
27. Bed Hair, Don’t Care
He was only nine years old in this school photo. So, when his parents told him they did not care about his spring school photo he believed them. He rocked major bed head and the smile he thought was going to be really fun.

This adorable little girl is combatting the fear of taking pictures in these school photos. She might be near tears but she is still trying her best to smile. You go girl!

She stumbled upon this school photo from the early 2000s and automatically remembered that she had felt like “da bomb” in this picture. She even remembered buying those velour pants at Limited Too and loving them. Some school pictures can just bring you right back to that moment.

If this was his retake photo, can you imagine how his first one turned out? The awkward stage of losing teeth has nothing to do with his intense smile. He is trying way too hard to smile and it shows.

When Connor’s mom asked how picture day went, he replied that he “smiled handsome.” His cap and gown was green and her mom was waiting to see his handsome smile. It was not thought of again until the proofs showed up. This mom could not stop laughing when she realized the green cap and gown made it so he blended into any background. She wanted to order them all.

This school picture fail was no one’s fault. It was all about bad timing when the camera clicked. His mom decided to stay positive and just hope that next year’s photos will turn out better.

She is not messing around during her school photo. Was this school photographer scared of this little girl because I might have been. She is giving the photographer a major death glare to just take the picture already.

She was excited for days leading up to picture day. She was going to take the best picture that anyone had ever seen. When her pictures came home her mother realized that her daughter had taken her first, and hopefully last, mugshot.

She was rocking a homemade vest that she was very proud of at the time. She must have been telling the photographer how great her vest was, when he took the photo. She was mid sentence and it created an angry face. At least she can laugh about it now.

Everyone loves to wear their favorite outfit on picture day. She might have gone with her second favorite outfit because her shirt does not have the best message for her future. Hopefully Cadence never gave up on herself even if her shirt did.

He is not here for fooling around. The photographer needs to take these photos quickly so he can get back to his day. There was no pose that was going to change his mouth into a smile. He was just not feeling picture day.
