Parents are children’s first teachers.
That’s why it’s a must for every parent to impart them the things that they must know.
Apart from life lessons, some parents have to guide their kids with their academic lives, too.
And it’s expected for children to ask their parents to help them with their homework. Many kids also ask their parents about other things regarding school.
But this little kiddo was not asking her parents about counting numbers.
She was arguing with them instead. And their whole conversation was filmed and has gone viral online. As of this writing, it has been viewed over 19.9 million times on YouTube.
The little girl was insisting that the sequence of numbers goes like this: one, two, three, and five. Of course, dad, who is a teacher, was there to tell her the correct one and he did it very calmly.
“No, one, two, three, four, five,” he said.
The adorable girl was determined to defend her own version.
The discourse lasted for a few minutes as dad continuously tried to explain to his daughter the correct answer. So dad responded to her with a powerful rebuttal.
“How you gonna tell me? I teach this every day!”
But the little girl didn’t waver and still defended her opinion. She even gave him a powerful “no” and uttered her own version again. Such a cute little one!
So, mommy felt the need to join in – which she did.
As she was recording the funny moment, the mother also tried to tell their daughter the correct sequence of numbers from 1 to 5. But again, the clever child still justified her belief.
“No, mommy, that’s one, two, three, five,” she said.
Dad tried to tell her that she was wrong in a gentle way. He even emphasized number four. But the cute little girl hilariously defended her version. She’s so adorable!
The mother thought a simple way so Elia would realize that she was missing number 4.
She asked her to count from one to four which Elia did. She then counted from one to five and her parents laughed as if they were saying “finally, you got it”.
The cutest part is when Elia continued counting up to number 8. It’s such a delight to watch her.
HuffPost Canada Parents also reposted the same clip which has received 46,000 comments from viewers.
Most of them were definitely entertained by the clever girl.
Some of them also commended her parents for being patient in teaching her.
“She arrived in the world little over one year ago and telling them what the answer is. Mom & Dad so patiently showed her the correct answer. Kudos to them. She is a determined, intelligent little soul,” a commenter said.
Another viewer said that this is the right way to deal with kids’ opinions.
“That’s how you TEACH a child. Help them see the correct answer without belittling their opinion. She gonna be a very strong thinking girl, woman, lady.”
I’m glad that this video has gone viral online. Aside from being funny and cute, it’s also a perfect example of how parents should teach their children.
It reminds all of us that it takes patience and genuine care to be able to teach kids effectively.
