When we live busy lives, it’s nice sometimes to spend a little bit of time by ourselves.
When we’re out in the world, we’re expected to get along with others, get our work done, make a good impression on strangers and generally keep a lot of things in balance. After all is said and done, being an adult is exhausting. When we’re alone at home, we can let our guard down and be a little weirder than we would usually be. It’s moments like that where we get back in touch with ourselves and can act like a kid again.
Of course, kids do this kind of behavior naturally.
One adorable example of this phenomenon has been making its rounds on the internet recently.
The video’s likely origins are from Brazil, as they seem to have been captured by photographer Daniel Valenti, a photographer based out of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The clip was originally posted on Valenti’s business Facebook page where it has amassed more than 18 million views. The clip begins with a frizzy-haired girl wearing a dress and some heels that are clearly too big for her. She’s staring into a mirror and striking a pose. After a moment, she springs into action.
Even though her shoes are too big, that doesn’t stop her from dancing her heart out!
After a moment, the little girl clomps and stamps her way over to the other side of the mirror.
When she gets there, she turns around and stomps back—all while twirling her arms in the air majestically and checking out her moves. Although the little girl is likely younger than two years old, she has a pretty strong version of the flamenco down already! After watching her impassioned performance, it’s not hard to see why this video is having such an impact.
While the video was supposed to be a cute showcase of Valenti’s skills, it has taken on a life of its own.
When we’re children, we’re constantly learning and growing with no time for self-doubt or self-consciousness. The video of this little girl has reminded us all to throw away our inhibitions and go for it. We should cherish the time we get to ourselves when we can truly let our personality shine. Then, when we’re confident enough and feel sufficiently childlike, we can share it with the rest of the world too!
