A high school student came through for her family in a big way following the big storms in Texas this winter.
Meadow Quigley is a student at the Construction Careers Academy.
She also happens to be the only reason her family was able to return home following several pipes bursting at their home.

The trade school focuses on welding, pipe fitting, and plumbing.
While she is likely studying at the institution to ensure she has a career after graduation, she took what she learned in the classroom and applied it under some unique circumstances.

Texas just wasn’t built with massive winter storms in mind.
Like many families in the area, Meadow’s family was forced to stay with relatives as cold temperatures wreaked havoc in the state.
Meadow just needed one trip to the hardware store, however, and she had everything she needed to fix her family’s problems.

Meadow’s mother, Tracy Sinha, wrote to Love What Matters to shine a spotlight on her daughter’s helpful actions.
“Hello from Texas! I need to take a minute and brag about this girl right here. My daughter Meadow is a sophomore at Construction Careers Academy studying plumbing, pipe fitting, and welding. She’s one of only a handful of girls in her school.”

What a stressful time it must have been for many people during the winter storms in Texas. Not only did residents have their own safety to worry about, but they likely were concerned for friends and family as well.
“On Monday, our pipes burst after having single digit temperatures in west San Antonio. We had no power and water and had to go stay at my mom’s for the past five days. It was 34 degrees in our house,” Meadow’s mother continued.
Meadow is only a sophomore at the school.
And yet, just two years of schooling was all she needed to know exactly what had to be done. She knew all the parts and tools she needed.
“Today Meadow went with me to the hardware store, picked out all the parts we needed, and did the repairs completely independently! This girl is only 15 years old and thanks to her, her three younger Autistic brothers, and I can finally go home. She even swallowed her social anxiety and knocked on the neighbor’s door to see if they needed help with their pipes.”
Those are some useful skills!
“To provide an advanced and rigorous curriculum with a focus on construction technology, construction management, architectural design, applied engineering and real-world experience that will prepare students for studies in higher education and/or a career in a construction-related industry.”
Don’t worry Texas, Meadow can fix your pipes, too.
Meadow’s mother mentioned that there are only a handful of girls enrolled in the school. We’d be impressed if any of them are already half as talented as Meadow is, however.
She’ll be ready to fix more burst pipes come next winter as well.
“Everyone worried about us down here in Texas, just know, we have a whole group of amazing young people who are going to change the world!”” Meadow’s mother ended her statement with.
