Life is full of wholesome lessons.
This is especially true for children, especially those that simply haven’t learned to know any better.
Goodwill is a treasure trove of both goodwill and discounted valuables!
It’s a wonderful way of recycling and redistributing resources if you think about it.
One Atlanta mother recently taught her son a valuable life lesson, using Goodwill as an example.
Cierra knows all about Goodwill.
Goodwill has a lot to offer, and you can often find invaluable treasures.
But more importantly, you can find affordable options for less!
From clothes to electronics, Goodwill has a little bit of everything for the frugal spender.
After recent distasteful discussions, Cierra grew weary of her 6th-grade son’s “entitled” attitude.
He scoffed at the idea of riding in his father’s old car and he even rebuked shopping for clothes at Walmart.
He even made snide comments about classmates that shop at Goodwill.
Cierra didn’t like that. Not one bit. She raised him better!
So what did she do?
Well, she made him take $20 of his own money and shop at Goodwill!
He’s a great kid, but he has so much to learn!
Fortunately, he has an awesome mom willing to set him straight. Her methods are harsh but effective.
And she does so with a smile on her face!
6th grade is definitely a year of personal and biological growth.
Anthony’s a bright kid, but he obviously has a thing or three to learn.
Mom and Son enter the store.
Welcome to Goodwill!
Who hasn’t spent a few hours at Goodwill browsing their vast, random selection? Seriously, there’s so much fun in a single Goodwill trip!
Anthony will learn soon enough. At first, he certainly was not happy about the trip.
Cierra soon snapped an incredible pic of the Atlanta teen dragging sets of clothes through the store. She then uploaded the story of their trip to social media.
The original Facebook post has been shared over 230,000 times!
I hope he’s learned his lesson!
Fortunately, it seems like he’s made a lot of progress. Shoutout good parenting!
Both of Anthony’s parents work to provide more than enough for their family.
At such a young age, he still hasn’t learned the value of hard work and how lucky he truly is living such a luxurious life.
So what’s the lesson, Anthony?
Well, in his own words:
“Don’t be spoiled.”
That’s a start Anthony… that’s a start.
One person’s trash is another’s treasure!
Unfortunately, we live in a wasteful, throwaway world. Thankfully, places like Goodwill exist to foster a beneficial, equitable redistribution of resources.
If you don’t need something, but it still has practical use, consider dropping it off at Goodwill!
Unsurprisingly, Anthony left Goodwill with some fresh new outfits. At the end of the day, he’s not all that upset.
It seems like Anthony learned his lesson.
He certainly has more to learn, but he’s only in 6th grade! He’ll be an upstanding young adult in no time.
So what do you think of Cierra and Anthony’s trip to Goodwill? Do you agree with Cierra’s methodology?
Even though Anthony was subject to widespread public embarrassment, at least he’s internet famous!
Plus, he seems to have genuinely learned his lesson.
What about you? Do you have any life lessons you learned the hard way? I sure do!
Remember, never look down on those with “less.”
Goodwill is quite literally used by people of all incomes. It’s especially advantageous to the frugal spender.
