After four years of infertility treatments, the couple went through two successful IVF rounds. The first time, Cambria brought two girls into the world, and the second time, she gave birth to a set of twin boys.
Unfortunately, the second time Cambria got pregnant, she had a condition named “placenta increta”. This practically means that the placenta grows way too deep in the into the muscle wall of the uterus.
As experts explain, in such cases, doctors may advise moms-to-be to have the baby between 34 and 38 weeks to prevent severe bleeding.
“When these conditions are found before birth, your provider may recommend a cesarean section (also called c-section) immediately followed by a hysterectomy. This can help prevent bleeding from becoming life threatening,” experts explain.

Sadly, Cambria did have hysterectomy, and doctors told the couple that if they wanted to have their last embryo carried, it would have to involve a surrogate.
This was when Jeff’s mother, Nancy, comes into play.
She knew that the couple wanted to try for the last baby, but she also knew it was a very difficult decision to make.
“I told my son, and he teared up and was shocked — I hadn’t even told my husband at that point. But he was really supportive,” Nancy Hauk told People.
So, she offered to carry that baby. The couple had to think of that pregnancy over and over again before deciding to move on with the transfer, but they knew they wanted to try for that baby and they were so grateful to Nancy for offering to be the carrier.

“It’s been so incredible to be part of this experience with her. I am eternally grateful,” Cambria Hauck told KSLTV.
Of course, she had to go through some extra tests because of her older age, but, surprisingly enough, doctors said she was perfectly healthy and she could carry the baby.
So, at the age of 56, 26 years after she had last been pregnant, Nancy is now carrying her own granddaughter and this is the most special thing she could do for her son and his wife.
“Bringing another strong baby girl to our family, it’s just really special,” she said.
The baby is due in November, and Nancy is feeling great so far. As she told the news source, the pregnancy is going easy so far, and her body seems to remember how to carry a baby even after so many years.
But the miracle does not end there. As Nancy revealed, a couple of days after the transfer, she woke up in the middle of the night and heard a child’s voice saying “Hi, my name is Hannah.”
The couple didn’t have to think twice once they found out. They would call the new baby Hannah, which sounds so appropriate, given that it means “favor” or “grace”.
