When a building is on fire, it is highly probable that most of the stuff inside will be destroyed, while at the same time, the fire is extremely dangerous for any humans or animals that are in there.

According to the US Fire Administration, there have already been 28 firefighter fatalities and 1,036 home fire fatalities in 2023.

A few days ago, there was a house fire in Phoenix, Arizona, during the night.

Claudia Jimenez and her two daughters were inside the house and they were already sleeping.

At some point, the mother woke up and realized that the house was on fire, and she panicked.

The three of them were trapped inside the house since the front door was blocked by the blaze, and they soon found themselves near the window.

The mother started yelling hoping that there would be someone around and help them.

“I opened my window and I started yelling ‘Please, someone help me, there’s a fire, I can’t get out through the front, I need someone to help me,” Jiminez told CBS News.

Thankfully, there was a brave man close by.

Joe Hollins has been homeless lately along with his wife, and that day they were spending the night right around the corner.

Soon, they realized that the building was on fire, and, when they heard Claudia’s screams, Joe decided to rush and help them get out of there alive.

“All I see is a lady pull open the window and she’s screaming ‘Please help me, please help me,'” Hollins said.

Indeed, Joe was under Claudia’s window a few moments later, and he encouraged her to let her two girls jump off in order to catch them safely.

The mother was scared, but she also knew that there was no other option at that point.

First, she dropped the 1-year-old baby, and then she let her 8-year-old daughter go.

Joe caught both of them perfectly, and they were finally safe.

And then, the man tried to convince Claudia to jump as well, but she was too scared initially.

“She didn’t want to come at first. She was scared she was going to fall,” Hollins said. “I was like ‘I got you. Don’t worry.'”

The mother knew that she could not get out of the burning apartment if she didn’t jump quickly, so she took a deep breath and landed in the man’s arms.

Claudia, Valerie, and Natalie were finally all safe and sound thanks to the man that had just saved their lives.

The grateful mom couldn’t stop calling him their hero, but he didn’t accept the label.

“Anybody would [do the same],” Hollins told CBS News. “They’re children.”

After the story went viral, the people who found out about them started donating to Claudia and the other residents of the building in order to support them.

At the same time, people are donating to Joe, the angel that saved this family.
