Dads don’t often get the attention they deserve.
It isn’t about discounting moms, either, but there is something to be said about celebrating the dads in our lives that go above and beyond!
One recent story has a photo of a dad going viral on the internet and it is truly heartwarming!
This story shows that the true heart of a dad is one that’s loving and selfless – like a human should be!
It all started when Sara Duncan, the wife to the now-famous husband, took a photo while in the hospital.
Sara Duncan told a story on Facebook that shows all future dads what the gig really looks like!
Not long ago, Sara realized that her daughter was wheezing when she breathed.
For a parent, knowing something is potentially wrong with your child is incredibly scary.
When Sara noticed, she decided to take her to the doctor.
Like many doctors visits, the trip slowly stretched and stretched until it was incredibly early in the morning.
When Sara finally talked to her husband, Joe, it was already late.
Joe works 12-hour shifts as a cement tech and is exhausted when he gets home.
When he finished his shift and learned his daughter was going to be in the hospital late at night, he didn’t care that he wasn’t going to get any sleep if it meant seeing her.
Sara did her best to convince Joe to stay home, explaining that it probably wasn’t a big deal.
Even more than that it was an hourlong drive to the hospital from their house to the hospital and it was going to nearly be morning when he would finally get there.
Still, Joe didn’t budge.
Sara said, “He’s a ‘I have to be with you’ type of guy. I knew that he was exhausted — I said, ‘Stay home. I know my way at [the hospital],’ and he was like, ‘No. You’re not going up there by yourself.’” – God Updates
With finality, Joe wound up at the hospital alongside his wife and kid to keep them company.
As it turns out, however, Joe wasn’t all that great at keeping them company because he kept falling asleep!
After multiple 12-hour shifts and staying up all night, he was totally exhausted and his body was forcing him to nap.
When Sara noticed, she thought it was the most adorable thing and snapped a photo.
When she saw the photo on her phone, she realized she had a “keeper” to a whole new level.
It was a moment she was able to share with the world, alongside some quality wisdom:
… Marriage and parenting isn’t 50/50. Some days it is. Other days it’s 60/40, 70/30, or even 80/20. And you have to be willing to pull your weight, no matter what your partner needs that day. This is what love is — This is what being a husband is — This is what being a Daddy is. And I wouldn’t want to do this life with anyone else! Thank you for all you do for us Daddy! We love you!”
