Celebrity stylist Kyan Douglas, who appeared on the TV show “Queer Eye For the Straight Guy,” is often seen on “The Rachel Ray Show” executing stunning makeovers that render his subjects unrecognizable.
But for this makeover, he brought in the reinforcements.
Douglas, who was promoting his new series “The American Barber,” tapped Lena Linares, the founder of the burlesque-themed RazzleDazzle Barbershop in Miami for this particular transformation.
Basically, it’s a place where half-naked women give men alcohol, then haircuts, and tell them how handsome they look afterward, as Rachel Ray explained when she broke it down for the audience.
It was their task to turn Jeffrey Schultz, an overall wearing, long-bearded country man from Willard, Missouri, into a stylish, fashionable and more urban looking man.
“How far are you willing to go my friend? Are you willing to go naked up here?” Ray said referring to Jeff’s face.
Jeff didn’t know how far the makeover would go or what he would end up looking like, but he didn’t mind as long as it made his wife happy.
“She married me with nothing on my face, so I’m willing to go that far,” Jeff said, which made the audience “awww.”
According to Springfield News-Leader, Jeff’s makeover was so drastic that the TSA staff at the airport questioned his driver’s license when he was flying back home.
Jeff’s wife, Lori Shultz, was a big Rachel Ray fan and wrote to her after finding some old pictures.
“A couple of months ago, my mom had cleaned out her attic and had a bunch of old pictures of my husband when we were dating,” Lori told Springfield News-Leader.
In her letter, she explained to Ray that her husband had the “Duck Dynasty thing going on” and asked Ray for some help.
“Don’t get me wrong, Rachel Ray,” she wrote. “I love my husband inside-out, just help me with the outside.”
Lori was completely shocked by her husband’s transformation and thought, “That’s not my husband.”
“He looked totally different,” she said. “Totally. His skin hasn’t seen fresh air for 20 years.”
When Jeff finally got to see himself, he got emotional and started to tear up.
“I’ve been Razzle Dazzled,” he said.
Lori described her husband’s new look as “kind of New York-looking.” His hair was donated to Locks for Love.
