Parents aren’t perfect but they try. Sometimes when they do, they fail. Everybody fails at something at some point or another. But some of these fails are hilarious, especially when we mean well.
It happens and we learn from it. So why not make others laugh with some of our failures? Besides, it’ll give the kids something to look back at and smile about. They might even think “Man, my parents were fun!”
So if you’ve struggled as a parent, you’re not alone! Whether you’re a parent or not, these are sure to make you smile. You might even want to show your folks!
There isn’t enough air to go around, Mom! This is definitely an average household with kids, especially on a Saturday morning. Isn’t parenthood awesome?!

Oh no! Mom tried washing her son’s teddy bear when it came apart in the washing machine. So much for wanting to keep your kid’s toys clean.
3) Defective – Please Return
So, this kid made his own Mr. Potato Head and became so terrified of it, he couldn’t stop crying. Kids are truly amazing.
LOL! “I just wanted a beautiful picture of you sleeping!” But c’mon, mom! The flash! Now you’re going to have to try and get the little back to sleep. Not to mention the mental anguish it caused.
Kidding.
5) This one is for the books
So was dad in a hurry? It looks like it. He spelled his kid’s name wrong for his jersey. It should read: Lucas.
6) It was nice while it lasted
When you put your kid in the nicest clothes… yep. Looks about right. At least you snapped a photo of how the shirt used to look.
Oh, daddy is going to love this card. Great job!
This is what happens when you take your eyes away for like five seconds.
This family was knocked out! The woman’s sister thought that something might have happened to them. I can imagine the terror but here they all are, safe and sound! It looks like they accidentally fell asleep.

Mom took the kids through the carwash for the first time. Needless to say, it didn’t go so well. In fact, they cried hysterically.
Dad accidentally left his son’s violin on top of the car and then drove away! But things happen. It’s just going to set dad back a few hundred bucks. He rented one for his kid in the meantime.
At least you taught them to replace what they take. They just went about it the wrong way… bahaha just look at that plastic piece of chicken!
All this dad wanted to do was make some chicken pot pie for his kids. Yeah, it was a major fail. But he definitely gets an A for effort!
Kids want to show their parents that they can do things on their own. Sometimes we let them. Oftentimes, we wish we hadn’t.
Aw man. And she tried so hard! The cat took the pile of sugar for a pile of litter. When they got back, this was on the kitchen counter waiting for them.
So, you’re just gonna stand there as I get wound up in this contraption? It’s okay, Julian. At least you’ll have a story to tell.
16) This ring should seal the deal
How embarrassing! After her daughter gave this vibrating penis ring to her friend as a “friendship ring,” she heard from the kid’s mom! At least Isabella’s mom took it in stride. But man, that’s embarrassing!
Myla’s mom assured Isabella’s mom that the ring had never been used but said she felt “mortified” that her daughter had it.
There’s nothing better than having company over and running into this. The worst part is, they aren’t exaggerating! Mom forgot to run to the store.
When you’re encouraged to make fun of your sibling… Funny pictures ensue. But he can take it! In fact, they have an entire Instagram dedicated to it!
You can’t share everything with your siblings! Especially your shadow. That’s yours!
20) Problem (temporarily) solved
Mom stuck a carrot in the hole of the pool. She tried but not sure how long it lasted. In the meantime, the effort is appreciated! Jump in the pool! But not too hard.
When you’re asked to pack a bag for your daughter… hmm, something doesn’t fit here. I think it’s the dad.
22) Keep an eye on that kid
When you just want to buy a game to keep your kid busy… this is what happens. Odd but it happens.
If you don’t know the dance, this is it. Which only makes this story even more hilarious.
When you forget to check your kid’s pant pockets before washing them. Who knew kids kept so many items on them? Next time you’re looking for random things like, oh I don’t know, a mini truck and various electrical cords, ask your kid if they have any on them. You just might be in luck.
This was a job well done! Or was it? Will he now feel entitled to lounge around the house in his underwear while sitting in your favorite recliner, watching tv, and demanding more chips?
Either way, great job, dad!
At least they sort of grasp the concept of the game… They’ll get there soon enough. Give it time.
When you tell dad that you’re not ready but this happens. Dads stay ready. Even when you’re not!
27) Mom’s Special Seasoning
While trying to season the meat, mom accidentally poured in sprinkles instead of seasoning. But hey, sprinkles are good too. I vote to keep them in!
Kids are always watching and studying those around them. It’s true. The age old, “Do as I say, not as I do,” just doesn’t work.
29) Knocked it out of the park
I admire this kid’s ambition. This kid is going places. For some reason, I think this worked. It’s just too believeable. I mean, just look at that line work.
30) You get what you get, kid
All your kid wanted was a sword-shaped pancake. What is this?! It looks like a… oh.
When you pack your kid’s tooth in their lunch… Yeah, things happen. This is one of them.
Parents get distracted, okay!
32) The logic actually makes sense
This father has already begun using his newborn as an item. But he was carrying her around for two hours before he got hungry. This was the only position she would sleep in.
So, compromise.
Well, this parent tried. But you can’t really please your child. Sorry parents, it’s inevitable.
Life before and after kids. We love to see it.
Man, that transition looks rough.
We all want our kids to feel like they can express themselves. That is, until this happens.
Who has my daughter been hanging around?! Looks like you have some investigating to do. But this is hilarious.

37) You no longer exist. Sorry kid.
When doing right goes wrong… this mom accidentally washed her kid’s social security card. Palm to the face.
38) Now, he knows what “baby” is
When the wife buys label makers and asks you to organize things, I don’t think this is what she means! I hope it didn’t hurt her when you took it off!
39) We’re off schedule now!
When you can’t get to the next destination because mom has a boot on her car. This mom forgot to pay for parking. But instead of a ticket, they put a boot on the vehicle!
Well, it
is Father’s Day. But man, what a bummer for the kids. They must dread his birthdays too!
After trying to teach your kid how to walk, you hope that they do so… just not when they should be sitting. So many mixed emotions in one picture.
All he wanted to do was spend some quality time with his daughter. But come on, man! There’s got to be another way!
She was never the same.
43) Make a wish… it doesn’t happen again
Parents often teach their kids to toss loose change into the water fountain. The key word here is loose change… I blame the adult in this scenario.
44) Wine pairings with kids
Someone out there has an answer to this very serious question… Still awaiting an answer because wine is great.
This is one Halloween costume this kid might not look back at with fondness. But it is funny. In a weird way.
When you accidentally leave dad’s trimmers out and your kid finds them… this can happen. Yeah, have fun!
Wow. Somebody is ready to have some fun! But you’re not going with him so you won’t be too embarrassed. But it is Vegas. There’s not too much to be embarrassed about when you’re there.
48) Interact with your kid!
This silly guy thinks he’s babysitting but he’s really parenting. Well, sort of. He’ll get the hang of it.
But then again, he is sitting and there is a baby…
You try. You really do. But kids are curious and will get into anything when given the chance. But to switch the eggs? What did you do to your kids to deserve this?
When you forgot to be the tooth fairy and give your kid money for their loose tooth… I understand. To be fair, this child had been losing several teeth around the same time.
You wanna know how good a plunger is before you buy it? Try it! Kids required.
Someone clearly taught her that Valentine’s Day is when people show their loved ones how much they mean to them. Darn parents! She’s all screwed up now!
53) Hungry? Yeah, me either.
It seems that mishaps tend to happen more often when food is involved. What can we say? Parents get busy! They might be able to do it all but there are bound to be a few misses here and there.
“Honey, can you put the socks on little Johnny?”
“Sure, hun.”
…
“What happened?”
When your kids complain that it’s too hot… joking. Not sure what happened here other than mom somehow managed to drop the air conditioner out of the window.
So this kid had a lot of thyme, I mean flour, on his hands! This is quite the mess! It looks like he watched his parents in the kitchen one too many times.
Okay, so dad can’t make pancakes… But he can do other things like… other important stuff.
This mom gave her sons some money to run to a shop and get something they wanted. Welp, this is what they chose… just look at their faces, particularly the youngest.
Why did she send those youngins out to the store on their own? Mommy break.
This definitely isn’t an idea thing to do. But she sounds like she has a lot on her plate! Cutting corners happens sometimes. Hopefully, her child grows up taking full baths/showers!
60) We have some work to do
You try your hardest. You really do. But sometimes, it just isn’t enough.
Giving your kid coffee… Yeah, let’s just say, lesson learned. You always think, “Oh it doesn’t hurt if they try just a little.”
Sometimes kids fall asleep on us. You don’t want to wake them but you don’t want to be bored either. I present to you, the compromise pt 2.
This little guy said he wanted to cool off his hot fries.
Hmm, I don’t think this is how it works, little buddy. But the idea isn’t half-bad. But c’mon guys, they’re too hot for him!
Down the road, this poor kid is going to find pumpkin in places he never thought he would. Just look at him. I don’t blame him for not wanting to be stuffed in a pumpkin diaper!
65) All the help she can get
You gotta teach your kid how to throw up the right way! This kid has a future in art though. Graphic art, perhaps? All jokes aside, you have an artist on your hands… which means, long road ahead.
Kidding.
Hahaha daddy-daughter days are the best! Exhibit A is all you need.
They were sent to the store to buy her “nice, new clothes.”
When you realize that you actually have to sew the patches on your daughter’s girl scout vest instead of hot gluing them on… One mother suggested stapling them on. Another advised going to a seamstress.
When daddy thinks he’s “got this” but isn’t even close. He sent his daughter to daycare in overalls and no shirt.
Parents have to entertain themselves too! Well, it seems like dads moreso. When mom stepped out of the room for ten minutes, this is what she came back to.
Hey, they’re killing two birds with one stone – breakfast and lunch. Nothing wrong with that. Kids sure do have an imagination!
Update: the kid put syrup in it! I’m out.
When all you want to do is open up a giant box of Goldfish for your kids… but you can’t. You just can’t!
72) Take down the sign and back away slowly
It’s always nice when parents allow their kids some space– oh, wait. Where did they learn this? You know what? Never mind.
Not quite there yet but keep practicing! This mom left the room and before she knew it, her two-year-old painted her brother’s… entire body with nail polish. They also got some on the carpet. Yikes!
74) Cookies in a muffin tray?
Not all dads can bake. This one used too much baking powder when attempting to make cookies for Santa with his daughter. But why use a muffin tray, dad?
75) Potty training gone wrong
Well, this went left. I bet it was a nightmare trying to get the little one back on the potty. I can hear the chaos in that bathroom now.
Parenting is all trial and error. It’s never perfect but it sure can be hilariously fun!
