Parents Arrive At Hospital So Mom Can Give Birth - Then 'The Joker' Delivers The Baby
Could you imagine the Joker delivering your baby?!

When most of us think of doctors we think of a man or a woman dressed in button-down shirt wearing a white lab coat with a stethoscope hanging around their neck.

The other variation of this is a doctor in scrubs which are usually a blue or blue-green color.

All doctors pretty much look the same. Every now and again you’ll find a doctor who stands out a little with a pop of color under their lab coat or with some superhero printed scrubs that lets a little bit of their personality shine through their outfit.

But you’d probably never ever expect to see a doctor dressed in full costume when you walk into a hospital. But that’s what happened when the day Justin Selph’s daughter Oaklyn Saige Selph was born.

His daughter was born a few days early on Halloween and when they arrived at the hospital they found that the doctor who was going to deliver their baby was in full costume… dressed as the Joker.

And they were totally fine with letting the doctor, dressed one of D.C. Comics’ more nefarious fiends, deliver their baby that way.

Selph posted about the experience on the Love What Matters’ Facebook page where it was shared more than 26,000 times.

Here’s what he had to say about his daughter’s birth:

“It’s not every day you get to see Dr. Joker deliver a baby! Our baby girl got to experience just that. Welcome, Oaklyn Saige Selph!

My wife’s due date was Nov. 5, but that obviously didn’t happen. She woke up Halloween morning to her water leaking.”

“We went to the hospital around 12:30 PM and checked in. Brittany’s doctor came in to meet with us, and that’s when we found out he was dressed for Halloween as the Joker.

We found it very humorous and a little exciting that we would have a baby delivered by the Joker. He came back in to check on her around 4:00 PM that afternoon, she again, wasn’t ready. So he said he was going home to pass out candy, and to change clothes. My wife said ‘Aw, we were hoping you wouldn’t change!’

Brittany was ready for delivery at 8:00 PM, so the nurse called her doctor in, and to our surprise, he showed up in full Joker attire, ready to deliver our baby, Oaklyn! There my wife is, staring the Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby.

He was a great sport about the whole situation and took photos with our family. The next morning, he came in to check on Brittany, and he said ‘Sorry I couldn’t make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well.’ Joking of course. He also gave her a card of congratulations, and he signed it “Dr. Joker.”

Apparently this isn’t the first time a costumed doctor has had to deliver a baby.

“Similar thing happened when I was born! Doc had to rush in from a Halloween party and didn’t have time to take his clown make up off,” one person commented on the post. “My mom got to the hospital at 10, and I was born at 10:31!”

It’s kind of strange that these two babies were both delivered by doctors in freaky looking clown makeup but hopefully, they won’t grow up with a fear of clowns.
