These ambitious parents set out with big plans for their kids’ birthday cakes. Unfortunately, things didn’t go exactly as planned. For example, one mom tried to bake a Pikachu cake for her Pokemon-loving son and it ended up looking like a giant yellow blob. Let’s just say that it wasn’t the most appetizing cake that we’ve ever seen.
However, that’s just one of the hilarious kid’s birthday fails included on this list. There are plenty more that are even worse. While it’s okay to get creative when baking a cake, sometimes it’s better to leave the crazier designs to the professionals. When in doubt, always remember, there is no shame in going with a store-bought cake for your child’s birthday. But in the meantime, these cakes are pretty funny.
This person tried to reproduce a beautiful R2D2 cake that they saw online. Sadly, theirs didn’t turn out quite as nice. If we didn’t know any better, we would have guessed that it was some sort of misshapen snowman.
It could be worse! At least we can actually tell what they were going for with this Ninja Turtles cake. That doesn’t make it any less funny though.
This cake is supposed to be Belle from
The Beauty and the Beast. It looks more like the Beast though than Belle. All of her features are stretched in weird proportions.
This Stars Wars Yoda cake is actually very well done. There’s just one problem… the placement of the lightsaber. It could easily be mistaken for something else, especially considering the color matches Yoda’s body.
He’s one of the best characters in
Toy Story. However, this cake version of Buzz Lightyear looks a little evil. He could easily be mistaken for a villain instead of the friendly Buzz we all know and love.
The sample
Little Mermaid cake that was shown on the bakery’s website looked fantastic. However, the one they actually delivered to the customer was way different. The bakery must have hired some new employees recently.
We don’t even know how it’s possible to mess a cake up this bad Mickey Mouse’s skin color is so orange. He looks like a pumpkin. Luckily, the daughter is only turning one year old, so she probably won’t notice.
The mom was so discouraged after trying to make this
Dora the Explorer cake that she ended up feeding it to the chickens. The birds had a really sweet dinner that night. The mom went out and bought her daughter a pumpkin pie for her birthday instead.
This one is supposed to be Green Steve from the popular kids’ Minecraft game. It was very sloppily done. In fact, it looks downright scary. Hopefully, the kids at the party aren’t too young or they might end up having nightmares.

Frozen. It’s definitely not perfect, but at least it still probably tastes good. That has to count for something, right?
Apparently, the kitty is angry. She can be seen giving the middle finger. The baker didn’t really think the design all the way through.
Superhero fans will have a good laugh at this cake. Somehow, the Hulk didn’t turn out quite as incredible as he is in the comic books. He looks pretty soft and gooey.
13. Spongebob Squarepants
Spongebob appears as though he has been in a big fight with Squidworth. His eyes are all over the place and his one looks like he got punched. It’s black and dripping.
It’s a really nice cake. However, it definitely isn’t based on the classic Barbie image that we all remember from childhood. The baker got very creative with it.
She is one of the main characters in the
My Little Pony series. The keyword here is she. This one looks like it has a penis on the bottom left corner of it.
“She wanted a Princess Leia cake ‘with butterscotch lollies for hair’… so here we are. Heinous. Looks like she’s watching the destruction of Alderaan,” writes the mom. The mom did her best to grant her daughter’s wish for a Princess Leia cake, but in the end, she couldn’t pull it off.
The TARDIS is the time machine from the
Doctor Who series. It is shaped like a police phone booth. The cake version is a great idea. Although, the challenge is getting it to stay standing up without collapsing.
BB-8 is another robot from the Star Wars franchise. He is a round little droid that rolls around. The cake version from the bakery looks great. However, the family’s recreation of it, not so much…
This Peppa the Pig cake comes pre-made from the store. However, sometimes, even the professionals can’t get it right. It looks extremely sad.
“Happy 9th birthday!!! Here is the fattest, most diabolical LEGO man ever, to help you celebrate” writes the mom. Her attempt at a LEGO man cake didn’t go that well, but it’s still cute in its own goofy way.
It looks like Batman better retire soon. He has definitely seen better days and judging by the way he looks, his crime-fighting days might be over. He appears very tired and worn out.
Can you tell what this cake is shaped like? We know we weren’t able to determine what it is. Apparently, though, it is supposed to be an Egyptian cat.
The proportions of Una the unicorn are pretty awkward. Without the horn, you would never guess it was a unicorn at all. Clearly, this design needs some rethinking.
We’re not sure if this cake shaped like a hedgehog was purposely made to be hilarious or if it was a complete accident. However, it definitely had us laughing. The funniest part is the teeth.
Tinker bell is the cute little fairy from
Peter Pan. Although, this icing design is anything but cute. It looks like some kind of evil fairy out of a horror movie.
The mom and dad made their daughter a Garfield cake for her birthday. It’s not horrible, but it’s also not amazing either. The kids will probably appreciate the effort, at least.
27. Thomas The Tank Engine
Thomas is a steam locomotive from the classic children’s Railway book series. The cake actually isn’t half bad. However, it does look like they accidentally gave him a pretty ridiculous mustache.
This attempt at a Mario cake was totally butchered. The best part is how she had to write out Mario on the top of the cake. Whenever you have to label a cake so people know what it is, it’s not a good sign.
The original Rapunzel figure was probably sufficient. For some reason though, the pastry chef decided to add on a long winding trail of additional yellow icing. It looks more like intestines than hair.
The online image of the green mushroom Mario cake looks amazing. The mom’s version didn’t turn out the same. The shape of it makes it look more like a piece of broccoli.
This Olaf cake is more creepy than fun. It’s also very small, which in this case is probably a benefit. The baker can get rid of it in just a few bites.
Kirby is one of the coolest video game characters. This is not one of the coolest Kirby cakes though. It is downright silly. What’s the deal with the green feet?
Here we have another person who attempted to make some Peppa the Pig cakes. They are practically pornographic. There were some major oversights in the design.
The Easter Bunny is not supposed to be scary. However, this Easter Bunny cake certainly is. Those green eyes and ribbons over its mouth are pretty freaky.
There is a dragon somewhere in this cake. It’s really hard to see it though. You’ll just have to trust the baker that it is there.
